Sad face icon on the ipod usually means there is some kind of problem with the mini drive (hard drive) in the ipod. It could be a bad drive or it could just be that the cable that connects the drive inside your ipod came loose from the drive itself.

Hopefully your ipod is still under warranty, because this is indicative of a hardware problem.

You could try to force it into disk mode and do a restore, if that doesn't work then it needs to be sent in for repair.

My ipod does nothing just shows a sad face

The "sad" iPod icon usually indicated that the iPod is having trouble connecting with a computer. This is, in most cases, not a serious issue and can be resolved with a few easy procedures. In most cases the data on the iPod is intact, even if the sad icon was displayed.

Verify the iPod has a charge. If in doubt, allow it to charge for 30 to 60 minutes. Do not remove charging cable. Toggle the Hold switch to the Hold position and back. Then press both the center (Select) button and the Menu (upper part of wheel) for up to 10 seconds. Release the Select and Menu buttons when the Apple logo appears, and quickly simultaneously press the Select and Play/Pause (bottom of the wheel) button. Switch from the electrical plug to a computer connection (if necessary) when the Disk Mode screen appears. The screen should change to the normal "Do Not Disconnect" update screen. Contact Apple about finding a repair service if the iPod will not go into Disk Mode.

My apple 30GB has sad face /www.apple.com/support/ipod

Hi, you may want to try reset your iPod: 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) 2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center. If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

My Ipod Video 30 GB shows a sad face. What do i do?

It looks like there is some kind of software problem with your iPod.
First, power up your iPod (showing the sad face). Try pressing the center and menu buttons at the same time, and holding it like this until the iPod shuts off (after about 5 seconds). This should 'force-restart' the iPod.
If this doesn't work, plug your iPod into your computer, open iTunes, select your iPod in the left-hand menu and click Restore. Note that all songs/photos/videos will be erased by this procedure.
Should this also fail, you can try leaving your iPod turned on (with the sad face), and wait for the battery to completely run out (the iPod should not turn on at all anymore). Leave the iPod unpowered for about an hour, recharge it, and retry the above steps.
Hope this helped,
tS

Ipod touch speakers wont work

You may need to reset
To reset the iPhone or iPod Touch, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done.

I touch loses suond in one speaker or in earbuds, is it the connection ? how do I fix it , can I take the itouch apart and check the connection ?

Hi there,

Do not open up the ipod yourself. This will void your warrenty instantly.

it sounds like a bad connection. Try your earphones on your computer. And try other earphones or speakers on your ipod. This way you can work out if it is a problem with the earphones or the ipod.

If it is the ipod, you will need to bring it in for service.

if you wish to return the ipod for service, you can find a local apple reseller by calling apple on 1-800-MY-APPLE

Or you can visit an apple retail store by visiting http://www.apple.com/retail/

Hope this helps.

Nathan.
