After applied the firmware from Samsung site the USB door just says NO FILE when before worked fine with the same external disk or pens.

exactly the same problem here. I could suppose its a firmware problem because it happen with or without the hard disk. I also checked "stand alone" the hard disk and it works properly.
I'm trying to find if its possible to start an automatic firmware reloading from an external USB pen connected to box.

Then right click on Disk 1removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted itwill indicate that it is Healthy.

Here is the samsung Official Product Support link. Firmware is available only only for Windows. Therefore i recommend that you connect you external drive with any other system with windows operating system and upgrade the firmware. Moreover, User's Manual and other related information and details are also available.

Also, try using CD/DVD ROM Cleaner because there may be some dust inside the drive that may prevent it from reading the disks.

Try to get a software called parted magic. its linux based and you should easily format the pen drive.
U can also try HP USB Disk Format Tool.

try formatting the pen drive there might be some usless hidden files on it somewhere taking up the room

first insert your pendrive.Now right click on my computer.Go to manage option . select disk management. From that you must select your drive letter for your pen drive.Go to Action menu near to File menu.Fromthat select all tasks and select formatting.Then again goto all tasks and select change drive letter and paths.select the drive letter and your problem is solved. thanks for asking your problem.
