Shure, the all of this year i´ve been using my 512 mg kingston pendrive with no problems. Last month, however it was victim of viruses, then i applied a format using windows tool Format. Later, I remember, I wrote some files in it, and used it by some days. Finally, with no reasson, it appeared died. My pc recognize it, but when I try to read files The Pc ask me for ¨Please insert a disk....... I dont have acess to files in my sony usb flash drive. I tried formatting it but a message (ie. windows was unable to format this drive was displayed). I have 2gb flashdrive and i have same problems with them. When I click my flash drive its saying its not formatted and its asking to reformat. If i reformat it, I can just see 8mb of capacity. I cannot open my pen drive! When i try to open the pen drive it tells me that the disk drive is not formatted, although it was perfectly OK 10 minutes before... I cannot open my pen drive! Now when I select it with the mouse I get a message asking me to insert a disk into drive P:. The same message comes up on a different (XP) machine. Luckily, I backed up the contents a couple of days before it broke down. What concerns me is why the failure occurred. It leaves me with a real sense of uncertainty about using flash drives. Why did it happen? Will it happen again? What can I do to prevent it or solve it if it occurs again? I don't want to be in a position where files are lost through some failure I can prevent. I also do not want to enter a world of paranoia, forever backing up from one place to another, never knowing which bit of storage is goint to fail next.
