I would start here. http://www.samsung.com/in/support/category/storage/opticaldiskdrive/ . You can get into live chat to find out your options to correct this. They will probably ask for your model & serial number. It's possible the FW update file was corrupted.

This drive comes with built in FAT simulation, which you might have acvidently activated. To disable it, open the tray, then tap the open button two times more. The blue light turns of, and the drive is in cd mode.

Clearly the CD needs to be broken into more than two pieces. Or swapped out for an unsplit CD at the shop, where they can make a copy for you of course. Or or course you write the maker's local office. There's no need for the particular thing though; there's quite good free burning software around.

That's fine and all; I can imagine the DVD writer needs a powered hub to do any writing, though, so try that; but what exactly does the error message say, and what in the world can be saying that? USB is clearly a hotplug (any time) connection, though you could say what it's doing while 'sorting' if it does portend to do anything.
