Electrolux Advantage Series Wiring

I repaired the cord retractor. The rug beater works but the main motor doesn't. I need a wiring diagram (or motor connections).

Carpet beater not turning on, rest of vacuum ok, reset button down

Is the PN motor not working, or just the brush not spinning. If it's the brush, a new belt is needed.
If the motor isn't working, it could be due to several things. Follow the trouble shooting steps below.
1. Check all connections from hose handle to PN for discoloration. Any parts showing discoloration or melted plastic need to be replaced.
2. Attach PN directly to the hose. If the motor works, there's a problem in the wand wiring/connections.
3. Attach the Sidekick directly to the hose. If it works, but the full sized PN doesn't, there's a problem in the PN. Problems could include: wiring, connections, bad motor, bad switch.
4. If neither Sidekick nor PN work, the problem is likely in the hose. Potential problems include: bad wiring, connections, or bad switch.
5. You can try another hose known to be good to test the PN. If it still doesn't work, the problem could be in the canister itself.

I strongly recommend taking it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for diagnosis and repair if needed.

No suction; beater bar works. Motor does not seem to be running.

This model has a complicated trouble-shooting procedure that needs to be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech.
This is often caused by a bad relay board or a Triac. However, problems in wiring or swswiches, including the hose wiring.
I stress that this must be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech.

The motor on my carpet tool (beater brush) stopped running yesterday. The main vacuum still works, but the switch for the carpet tool just clicks and doesn't turn it on.

Knowing the model would help.
Possible problems:
Broken or disconnected wire in hose, connections, power nozzle.
Hose needs replaced. Check all connections for discoloration and cracked supports. Have power nozzle checked at a vacuum shop. Depending on the model, take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for this.
Bad power nozzle motor Needs replaced.
Bad switch. Take the whole machine in for thorough check and repair..

The motor running the beater bar on ny Electrolux canister vacuum cleaner runs intermittently. It runs about 2 minutes and then cuts off and automatically starts again after a 1 to 2 minute interval. I...

Check all the wiring connections to make sure they're tight.
1/2. Wiring to power nozzle motor or reset switch is loose.
1. Cord from power nozzle to upper wand. If the plastic portion of the wand is cracked near the cord connection, or the connections are blackened, they need replaced.
2. Wiring connection from hose handle to upper wand. Check for cracks and discoloration as in 1 above. Replace if necessary.
3. Hose connection to vacuum. Not likely, but possible.
4. There could very well be a break in the hose wiring.
You may need to take your vacuum, with hose and power nozzle, to an authorized Aerus Electrux service shop. They can try a new hoze to see if that's the problem. If there is a break in the wiring, the hose is probably worn in other areas as well, and should be replaced.

Electrolux LE, cord retractor not working

This happens when the spring inside the cord reel fails. The reel can't be fixed, but can be replaced. A Google search for Electrolux parts turned up several sources. Here's a link to one company I have dealt with in the past:

Replacement isn't too difficult if you're comfortable with hand tools and have some patience. Hope this helps and good luck on the repair!

Electrolux 2100 canister vacuum

Open the door to remove the bag. Pull the side bumpers forward when the door is open. The profile of the edge of the top and the bottom of the vacum body is a "L" shape. The cross section of the bumper is a "I" and that holds the body together. Carefully lift up the top just a little to free the plastic end cap that conceals the cord spool. There are two plastic pins on the top and bottom that hold this piece on and they frequently get broken. (If that happens repair shops drill and hole and insert a screw.)
There is a plastic protector plate that lifts up on either end and then is slid about 1/8th inch clockwise and then up.
Copy the wiring pattern on the four male connectors on the motor and the wire spool.
Post your wiring diagram and it will solve a lot of people's problem trying to reassemble this machine's -- including mine.
