Whirlpool fridge freezer

The fridge side is cooled by the freezer side. Try unplugging power, open freezer door and let thaw out/defrost.

Fridge warm, freezer has frost on back panel & is defrosting, fans work, just changed defrost thermostat, no air is moving from freezer side to fridge side, drain pan under fridge is dry

this fan needs to run when the compressor runs, check fan blade for being jammed by ice if you have this much ice on back wall as ice will stall motor,if no fan there will be no cool air to refrige compartment also the defrost drain tray will fill with water then freeze over which in turn floods the freezer floor and refrige compartments cause it cannot drain to the pan in the bottom

Freezer side is cold but the fridge side is not getting cold

Luispinto243 --
The heat exchanger is in the freezer side of a refrigerator. If the cold air pathway has gotten frosted-up, or the blower is not working, the fridge side will get warm. If possible, fully defrost the unit and the frost/ice build-up will thaw-out and the fridge will start working again. Adjust the thermostat to the energy-saving position. Trying to lower the temperature will not fix the problem. If you are still having problems, write back. -- SWT

Freezer -5 Fridge 50

You have a defrost problem. Refrigerator gets cold via freezer. If blocked with frost, will restrict cold air into refrigerator.

I have a fridge-freezer. the fridge is working fine but the freezer isn't very cold, its about the same temp as the fridge. I have changed the temp dial but this makes no difference.

I Have a fridge-freezer, the freezer is now filled with ice/frost on sides and top, as if it were not frost free. I addition, the fridge is not very cold

Fridge not getting cold

This is a frost free frige, so if you see frost, that is the problem. Check the defrost heater, defrost limit and defrost timer/board. You can get by for a while by manually defrosting the fridge. Turn it off, unload the food, and leave the freezer door open for 24-36 hours.

GE Side By side doesn't cool and freexer frosts up

Most common problem on GE's is the defrost heater(s) has gone bad. They are a glass tube and when they go bad the tube will have a burnt or black color to it. A good heater will be clear. I bet that is your problem. Seems to be the problem about 90% of the time on GE not defrosting.

Fridge/Freezer not cold

Yes, replace the defrost heater and melt the frost with a hair dryer which is blocking air flow over the evaporator. The frost blocked coils (behind the freezer wall ) results in very poor cooling.
