How to put music on the r4i

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

the way to put music onto your r4i is to put it on the sdcard like you would games, then put them into the system file, then when you turn your dsi on, open the system file a go down until you see your music, thats the way to do it if you want to put music on your r4i, if you want to put music on your dsi thru a sdcard, into the slot on the side of your dsi, you have to convert the music to aac files, but you dont say you want to do that, you want to put it onto your r4i, if you want it on a sdcard, reply to this , and i will tell you how to do it.

Hello Brent,

You just store the music files in a folder on the micro sd card. But you'll need to get a homebrew called Moonshell to open the music files. I got an iEdge card and its got moonshell integrated into the menu.

I have an R4i card for the DSi but I can't seem to get it to work with the DSi. I have put the firmware etc on it but when I place it into the DSi I get a picture of a memory card with a happy face then...

Hi,

I would suggest reinstalling the latest kernel click here and download "R4i 1.58 Kernel"

Extract all the files from the .zip file and put them all on the SD card. Reinsert the SD into the R4i card and put it into the DS.

Hopefully it will now work.

NOTE: The R4i kernel will only work on DSi firmware 1.5 or below...if yours is higher then you will have to downgrade it for the R4i to work.

Hope this helps, any problems feel free to message me.

Regards,

I dont know how to put music in my r4i

Your friend is right in part, if you want to put music on your r4i you can, if you drop and drap the music you want onto your sdcard like you would games, you can keep them in mp3 form, i did this for my grandaughter, when i put them on the card i dropped them onto the moonshl folder, then when you turn the dsi on you go to the moonshl folder and you can find the music their and play it, when your friend said you have to convert to aac files thats if you put them on a sdcard on the side of the dsi insert them, if you do that you have to convert to aac, the dsi will not play mp3 files, but it will if you put them on the games card and drop them onto the moonshl folder, if you want to convert your files for the sdcard on the side of the dsi, what you have to do is download itunes if you have not allready, put the music you want to play on your nsi into a playlist on itunes, click on the song then click on where it says create aac version, then when you do that you will see itunes converting it, when you have done that with all the songs you want, right click on each track that itunes has converted and click on where it says show in windows explorer, then when you have all the songs in windows explorer folder drop and drag them all to your sdcard, then put the card into the side slot of your dsi, turn on your dsi, and find the sd menu and their you will find your music, hope this helps you.

My r4i wont work since I updated my dsi

It's because the newest firmware blocks the R4i card, next time use google a bit more before you do a firmware update, you need to buy the
newest R4i card, the newest moddel of that flash card works again with the newest firmware.

Tip: Buy the Hyper-R4i card instead of the R4i because the hyper-r4i has
a reprogammable chip, you don't have to buy every time a new flash card, you just have to update the chip on the flashcard to bypass anny protection.

Problems with r4i

If the songs are mp3 files the dsi will not reconise them, they have to be in aac form to play on your dsi, but if you put mp3 file onto your r4i games card, they still wont play, after putting your songs onto your games card put them in the system file, then open your system file and go down, you will see the music to play, i did this for my grandson until his mum got him another sdcard, then i put his music on that, but i had to convert the to aac first. to go on the other card.
