Well, I have had this laptop for a few months now, its my best friends- she had let me borrow it. She wants it back, but there is one problem.
When I go to start it, the green power light comes on, and the fans sound like it is starting up, but the screen does not light up, and after about three seconds it makes the noise as if it has powered down and the fans shut off. I made sure the laptop was charged, it still does the same thing.
I already tried removing the battery and plugging in the charger, and then trying to start up but the same thing happened. Is there anything that I can do to fix this? Any help/advice would work, thank you.
...sounds like an "internal short", probably related to issues involving the
screen. Don't attempt to have a 'tech friend' check it, but if your friend had a warranty see if there is a recall notice.

Ok, ask your friend if this netbook "behaved itself" when she bought it
OR if there was damage done at some point (i.e. she stomped on it..
dropped it on her boyfriend..or whatever).
Some times the factory misses the 'drop and break it' tests during QC (quality control) cycles...if you contact a local dealer, they might let you
exchange your friends model for a newer one for a small warranty fee.
Remember these are CHEAP COMPUTERS..not expensive ones (like
Apple makes..ok?) ..so here is your service center's email contact page:

The Power On Self Test (POST) evidently encountered a problem with one of the main components. Most likely it's the hard drive.
Was the machine dropped or hit?
Testimonial: "Yeah, It was. I remember I had it on my bed and my little sister had came in, and smacked a whole bunch of the keys while it was off once. "
