Ok so here goes.... I had the same problem:
Go to the 'start' button and then hit the 'control panel' option, then click 'mouse' then go to 'Device Settings' and then to the 'settings'. When you get to this screen it shows a list on lthe left hand side choose the 'tapping' option and then ok.

Hey i have the Toshiba satelite laptop and the touch pad and keyboard has stopped workin completely any help !!! plzzz
I had the same problem with tapping on my Toshiba Satellite, once the tap-to-click function came back, than stopped working again. I found solution myself today. Strangely i could only access the full settings for the touch pad through mouse settings, so the mouse had to be connected. I went to Control panel- Devices and Printers- then Right Click on the "Mouse" icon and clisked on Mouse Settings- then went to Device Settings (with Synaptics Red logo), push the "Settings" button, and then you finally get the full list of settings, including "Tapping", and then you just have to tick the circle "Enable tapping" (mine was unticked, that was the cause of my problem). Hope this helps...
i tried everything in this site, still my right click is not working...so no copy paste function for me unless i use the mouse..pls help..i trier the control panel mouse device setting, fn f9, enable tapping button, slowing down device speed, updated my device drivers..but still its not working :( it was just fine a few hours ago :( pls help..
I just have to thank you so much for being able to detect this magick trick; I no longer loose focus everytime I click...
I tried this one genious My problem also solved Thank you so much..

The tap is on but it still does not work
Hello:
The first place I would check is under Mouse in your control panel. You can turn on/off the tap tap on your pad there.
If that does not resolve the issue let me know...more tricks up my sleeve.
Best of luck my friend.

My pad stopped working after only a few days.... lights off, nothing works... its enabled and everything... but just gone... drivers good... but hardware not detected in device manager....
Here is a little something if you are having trouble with the "tap to click" with the mouse touch pad.
Control Panel...Mouse...Device Settings tab...
in the Device settings tab...make sure there the device is enable...then, there is a settings box. In there..click on it, go to "Tapping"...check the Enable checkbox. That will turn on the "tap to click" function.
awesome!!! thank u, it really works.
I had same problem, the toshiba touch pad tap click is not working. The cursor moves but not able to click it. Plugged in regular mouse and it worked fine. Followed above instructions about going to control panel, mouse, and checking to to see if tapping was on. After further checking I found that the left button on the touch pad was shut down and would not move. Using a needle along the side of the button I GENTLY pulled upward and it popped loose. Unplugged mouse and Pad is working great LAnderson

My touch pad works but the left button below the touch pad is not working properly. At first it would not work at all but now it acts like the back arrow on a web page. Any ideas? I prefer the buttons to tapping on the touch pad.

Unless the touchpad is disabled, my cursor arrow roams and re-directs the instructions from the keyboard. Any ideas?
I went into devices, and changed my left click button to my right. it works now. gives me a bit moe time for
Thanks for the advice to go to device settings and select tapping option...worked perfectly!
Make sure the touch pad is not disabled: Press FN+F9. Reboot the Computer: Press and hold the power button until the unit powers off. Re-Install the Touch Pad driver: Go to the Toshiba Drivers page to select your model and download the Touchpad driver and re-Install.
It sounds as the 'click' is faulty. it may need replacing. If you have food or anything has found its way under the 'click' it may either be stopping it from returning to its positions OR the 'Click' as you put it is actually faulty.

Hi!
I had the same problem after my fat cat sat on my keyboard. This is how I fixed it. At the top of the keyboard there is a F9 key. If you look closely at this key, it also has two pictures of the mouse pad. This key is a toggle that turns the mouse pad on and off. Down near the lower left corner of the keyboard is a key marked FN. Hold down the FN key and press the F9 key. That will turn the mouse pad back on.

If u are having Synaptics Driver....then
check that Tapping is enabled...
follow steps to know that:
Open Control Panel..
Now Open Mouse
Now click on tab "Device Settings"
then Click on "Settings"
a new window popups
Click on "Tapping" which is listed on the corner of the window
Now after clicking on it...on the right...check that there is "Tapping Enabled or not"
if not...click on that White box...
and Apply
then ok
Done :)

Hi,
For me too, touchpad click is not working.
The touchpad on my Toshiba has recently started working only until the computer has finished starting up. It then stops working and only the cursor appears and moves, but the buttons on the touchpad don't. What's more, if I plug in a USB mouse, the buttons on the mouse don't work either. It's very strange. Anyone know what the problem is?
touch pad tap not working..

Suddenly my thosibha laptop's touch pad click funcationalities stopped working. It would be really great helpful if someone can provide me some solution for this problem.
Thank you.
I am also having the same problem, the mouse moves but the double click on the touch pad doesn't. When it's first turned on it works a couple of times but then stops. When I was on the internet the other day the whole thing froze for a while, then started working again but it's only since then that the touch pad has been playing up. It seems to be enabled okay, and assume it must be to work the first couple of times it's turned on. Any ideas as to why it's stopped and how it can be fixed?
I can move the cursor, but I can not "double-click"/ select anything with it? Can anyone help?
