Hi! there are many causes why your lamp went off its either that the ballast is defective or the lamp itself is busted, but most dlp and lcos type of tv the lamp is culprit. because lamp lifespan is only 5000 to 1000hrs used only.

Samsung DLP HL-S5087W 56" Confused...

Those lamps can be pretty touchy and susceptible to temperature changes and finger prints. Also some discount lamp dealers can accidently sell you the wrong lamp. Something simple and dull to try is to take that lamp out and put it back in, check that the connections are seated properly and the air pathway from the fans is clear.  If the fans were dirty and you put in a new bulb that worked for a while it may have burned out prematurely.

I have a Sony Bravia KDS-60A3000. I changed the lamp, plugged in the TV and it was working. Was trying to reset lamp indicator, power went off, red indicator light is blinking and cannot get TV to turn off...

I went to another tech site and saw a suggestion to unplug the TV for a couple hours and then plug back in to see if this helped, but they also indicated this could be a serious power problem. I was really concerned, but tried it and it worked! I think it was running some kind of diagnostics after the new lamp was placed. Back up and running!
