The most likely problem is the light bulb.
You will require replacing the lamp housing. It is a relatively simple task and should, as a novice, take you no longer than 15 minutes. An OEM bulb by Phillips will cost anywhere from $100 to $250. A generic bulb will cost around $30 to $50 and will work just as well. When purchasing the bulb be sure to buy one that has at least a 6 month 6000 hour warranty. Most of the bulbs come with a basic toolkit to facilitate easy installation. Good luck and happy viewing

Please intimate exact model of your Sony TV and also mention how many times red light blinks as there would be pause of 3 seconds in blinks so count pause to pause and let me know to find out problem.
How old is this TV and did you replaced its lamp?
Thanks.

It sounds like your red and blue guns are not working. Open the back cover and remove CRT neck assembly and place it back to clean contacts on the tube. However, the bet solution to my 35 years experience s a TV technician is this is a time to get rid of this TV and replace it with 55" LG, preferably, 3D. In any case, I can help you if you send me a line at
[email protected] or call me with a message at 8473806394 with your phone number.
