Power light comes on but the screen wont turn on

It sounds more like a bad power supply, not enough juice to turn on the screen, I've seen this problem come up in just about every LCD TV out there, very common. Some TV's make a clicking noise while other just don't turn on, I am almost sure it's a bad power supply that just went bad and can't power up the screen at all. Not an easy fix even though you were told It was an easy do it at home fix. Unless you are good at taking apart stuff, you can open the back of the TV and eye ball the power supply unit for a bad blown capacitor or another component that is burned up or melted? Some times you can actually smell a burnt component and sometimes you can't.

This is most likely the power supply. It could be some other things but the power supply is the cheapest thing to try unless you have the right stuff to test everything. In reality, it was nothing that you did. The uninstall of the program did not cause this. Also you should check the unit to be sure that it is clean. Dust can build up inside and cause over heating.

with the tv on through one of the openings shine a light in the hole to see if it is just the back light or the screen driver. check this first then come back with the result.

If its two weeks old why are you here? Take it back to point of purchase and either have it fixed or replaced or get a refund.....

From the brand you likely are in UK but here all sets come with some kind of warranty==the problem sounds like a power supply issue but if you have a warranty and open the set it will void that warranty.

in the power supply you have six

Electrolytic capacitors you have to take the cover off the power supply to get to them. 3 of them will be 1000 uf @ 16v and the other 3 will be 1000 uf @ 35v the tops of them will probaly be bulged up replace those and that should solve your problem. you can replace all 6 with 1000 uf @35v and get them at radio shack for $1.79 each.

wont turn on red light just flashes?
On my samsung flat screen tv when you are watching the televison there is no red light on the power button but when you turn the television off the red light stays on all the time? what can I do to turn this light off?

This is very common problem for sony. Blinking light is power supply problem need to replace two voltage reulators in supply and caps and sometime horz output.


Sometimes if you adjust screen voltage adustment on flyback just slightly it will fix it.

I would suspect it needs to have electronic troubleshooting done in the power supply section to find and replace the defective components. Is it possible the capacitor is in backwards?
