These blinks [flashes] are fault indication. You can get an idea about the faulty stage circuit inside the TV, by the number of these blinks. Hi Andrew,
Check output voltage of pin #1, pin#5, pin#7 and pin#10 of CN641 connectors(G-board). These are DC voltages.
Let me know the reading to assist you further

Turn on and screen goes blank after 45 seconds
Hi,
I found the problem was related to the lamp. Your TV power up but then the lamp would
overheat and automatically shut down (audio and video) resulting in a
dark screen with no sound. Once the lamp cooled (30 - 60 secs) it would
come back on. Then overheat, turn off - recycling "eternally". A new
lamp will solve the problem

Tv wont turn on -- stand by light just keeps blinking
This is very common problem for sony. Blinking light is power supply problem need to replace two voltage reulators in supply and caps and sometime horz output.
Sometimes if you adjust screen voltage adustment on flyback just slightly it will fix it.

Do I need an antenna
YES! the antenna will plug into the same spot the cable wire is connected too ( you may have to buy a adapter for $1.00 for the the antenna wires to connect to back of your set available at any wall-mart or radio shack) And since your switching to antenna you will need to buy a digatil converter box in FEB to get antenna TV!

SEVEN Blinks---High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and
the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply
regulation and horizontal circuits.

this sympton is characterized by the presence of red, cyan, green, magenta, blue or yellow colour in a supposedly plain white raster. proper colour reproduction cannot be expected if the raster is coloured.
this symptom is caused by a poor white balance adjustment of by a trouble in the CRT, colour amplifier, color demodulation or colour output circuits.
if the raster has a tint of red or cyan, check the R-Y output circuits and the first grid, second grid and cathode circuits of the red electron gun.
but if you dont know anything about this, just bring it to a qualified service technician. good luck!
No color
If the settings are correct and the signal is good but there is no color, it can only be one of 2 things - the CXA jungle IC and the chroma crystal next to it. If you have never replaced small parts on PC boards then have a qualified tech handle it for you.
Television won't turn on
it is best you buy another set my friend it is not worth fixing the money you have for repairs and the cost for components put it together and you will get a good tv free of repair worries plus with warranty.if you get that set fix bam you take it home then about a week it is back in the work shop again.you will have to spend more money.a 10 year old set is not worth to have it repaired.replace it.good luck my friend.
