Look at the power supply for bad solder joints, burnt parts, bad capacitors first.

Very bad for the TV, don't do this!
Got the remote control? Switch on or off (full operation) from Standby with it and just use the main manual switch on the TV for, say, morning ON for the day and evening OFF for the night.

Hi, I am not sure on this one (as i'm based in the uk) but it sounds like your cable box (if its seperate to the tv) has gone into 4:3 screen mode if you can get into the menu of the cable box perhaps you can change the setting back to16:9 widescreen or perhaps there is a button on the remote control for changing the screen view.

If not perhaps theres a setting in the tv's picture menu where 4:3 mode is set instead of Auto or 16:9

Sorry I can't be of more help and hope this solves your issue.

Hello memory maker, hi, cannot tell if the capacitor is the cause, but what you can do is measure the secondary AC voltage from the main transformer, there should be a 600V ac reading for normal operation on a 220Volt AC main line. A missing secondary voltage means the problem is the primary section where the switching is done, check for the following. 1. Fuse 2. Rectifier Diodes (use a multitester device) 3. Switching transistor(s) 4. Open Low value resistors. 5. Switching regulator ICs (this needs replacement, be it good or bad OR use an Oscilloscope to find the pulse from the oscillator section)
These are all hard work, simplify by replacing the entire Power Supply board.

1 - Hold the clear tv buttom until all 4 light flash red
2- Press the red tv buttom
3- Press the amount of time needed on the up cursor ( around select buttom) until your tv shut down
4-When the tv goes off press the search buttom ( at the end on the right side )
5-Press record

Then u can use the red tv buttom to control ur tv and u can control the volume on satelitte mode without going back to tv mode , if u press too much time while searching the code and the tv wont light back , do the same thing but instead pressing the up cursor press the down one to go back on the code it will be faster .

Hello there...
Check its sleep settings. Someone may have hit the sleep timer and have set it to about 10 seconds. If that still doesn't help, please post a reply here.

What do you mean by explosive change in loudness? The volume goes up and down by itself?

That means there are no more updates for that TV. You might want to get a newer TV.

Go to home setting on remote. Go to audio settings on tv. Adjust sound from there down to suitable level.
