SOURCE: Dryer makes a loud squeaking/squealing noise while drying.

If the dryer model number begins with 417, the drum is supported by a ball bearing in back, and a seal and glides up front. Often, the bearing will become very dry, either from years of use, or from excessive lint blowing up into the bearing. If the bearing isn't cracked or otherwise noticeably bad, you can usually solve the issue simply by lubing the bearing with a high temp grease. While the machine is apart...(a major pain in the butt), make sure to check the condition of the seal and glides on the front panel, and replace the belt if it looks at all cracked or frayed.
If this dryer is not a 417 and/or does not have a rear bearing, it's best to get a maintainance kit (belt, idler pulley and drum rollers) and install all the aforementioned parts, as they are the most likely source of screech. Also, check the motor by spinning the shaft manually with the belt off....if that is squeeking, it's motor
time.

SOURCE: loud squeal during wash and spin cycles, maytag atlantis washer

Squealing normal occurs due to belt slippage. I would check your belts (look for cracks. Check the belt tension as well, most washers have an adjustment, normally on the motor that allows you to increase the tension of the belt.

If part of a belt gets torn and it is long enough, it will hit any part of the washing machine within range and make a clicking noise at every revolution of the motor.

I am pretty sure you need new belts. You should be able to remove a few screws and open the back cover. Between the pulleys there is a tensioner...loosen that so you can remove the belt easily. replace it with a new belt and adjust the tension.

hope this helps

SOURCE: Dryer makes a loud squealing when first started

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.
If you have a front loading machine, Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer. Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear. Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt. Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them. If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem. I will include these two websites for parts and further help: http://www.partselect.com/ http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx Both also have chat assistance 24/7. Good Luck, I hope this helps Please rate me, Thank You

Hotpoint Tumble Dryer keeps pausing

That sounds like an overheating problem. When the machine pauses, the blower fan stops running and that allows the heat to build up enough to trip the high level thermostat. You can test this by running a cool cycle.

Drive belts don't squeak because they are made of rubber. Things that do squeak are rear drum bearing, front bearings or drum slides, idler pulley wheels or the tension springs.

The machine needs a full strip down, cleaning, de-fluffing and lubrication. Also check the exhaust hose and the grill outside except it appears you have a condensing dryer. Make sure that unit is clean..

How do I access drivebelt on Hotpoint tbf770

The front of the unit might have to come off. The squealing could also be coming from the rollers .

I have a haier washer-dryer combo. washes and dries but it is making a loud clanking noise, esp loud during the spin cycle. draining well.

Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues.

I have a new (1 month old) Hotpoint Condenser Dryer (TCD980G). When it is on the drying cycle it runs for about 30 minutes and then trips the RCD circuit. I have cleaned the condenser filter and the water...

There should be no condensation present if it is a condenser dryer, this is the idea of it.
As for tripping the electrice, then it suggests to me that the steam could be the cause of the problem.
As it is a new dryer, then I would strongly advise you ring Hotpoint service, or ring the help line number in your instruction book.
You can contact them at the following address if needed.

Hoover Maxi 6 TC50 Tumble Dryer making squealing noise

Have you fixed this problem? I also have a Hoover condenser dryer, only a few months old, and has started to make a squeal/whistle. I'm thinking it might be the front fan needing some WD40, OR too much water vapour around the belt that moves the drum causing the sounds.

If it's the fan, lubricating the shaft and its components should fix the problem, if a wet fan then I'd think maybe fully cleaning the condenser filter, reservoir ect will fix the problem.

The problem seems to go away though "mostly" 15 or so minutes after you start the dryer, so that makes me think ones it gets warm something is expanding to allow more "give" so maybe the belt.

Hotpoint WD 865- washes ok, dryer won't work makes loud popping

sounds like the dryer heater element has worked loose perhaps and shorted out against the metal dryer box which sits on top of the drum.
best to get an engineer out i'd say.

On sensor dry, dryer remains at 1 minute for hours...will not shut off automatically

I'm sorry to hear of your problem with your LG dryer. I have one as well and it works very well. I found my owners manual. It has a web site WWW.LGSERVICE.com. They also have a toll free number 1-877-714-7486. Perhaps either of these will help you find an answer. Good Luck
