Hoover Maxi 6 TC50 Tumble Dryer making squealing noise

Hello,

The last couple of days, our Hoover Maxi Tumble Dryer has started making loud squealing noises when tumbling in one direction, but not the other.

Not sure if its related but 3 weeks ago when we moved house, the Tumble Dryer was inadvertently tipped on its side when water was still in the condenser and i had to take it apart to let all the water drain out the back and dry it out for a couple of days, after which it worked fine.

Now its squealing and i wonder if the water has dislodged the grease in the bearing or motor or something. I'm fairly handy with a spanner, but never taken apart a tumble dryer before. Anything i can do to fix the squealing or is the dryer heading for the pearly gates?

Any help/advice gratefully received.

Same as above. Whilst the squealing would sometimes go away for days or even weeks. IT would usually come back, and eventually it stopped altogether. I dismantled it, and found that the bearings where the drum is mounted on the rear had completely disintegrated. Not only that, but the main spindle arm had worn a good coupe of inches of play out of the circular mounting plate on the rear of the dryer. Whilst i found a new bearing set (which wasn't cheap), i couldn't source a replacement circular mounting plate.

As a result it was new dryer time for us....Good luck.

Have you fixed this problem? I also have a Hoover condenser dryer, only a few months old, and has started to make a squeal/whistle. I'm thinking it might be the front fan needing some WD40, OR too much water vapour around the belt that moves the drum causing the sounds.

If it's the fan, lubricating the shaft and its components should fix the problem, if a wet fan then I'd think maybe fully cleaning the condenser filter, reservoir ect will fix the problem.

The problem seems to go away though "mostly" 15 or so minutes after you start the dryer, so that makes me think ones it gets warm something is expanding to allow more "give" so maybe the belt.

I had the same squealing problem, that stopped after a while. I ignored it and now wish I hadn't. Eventually, the motor bearings seized completely. I'm not sure if the bearing can be replaced, (anyone know?). If not, I'm faced with a £110 bill for a new motor.

WHAT IS THE LIKELY CAUSED OF A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT SYSTEM ? IS IT THE ALTERNATOR OR SERPENTINE BELT?

serpentine belt is getting old and hard and the cold weather was causing it to slip
check belt condition ( small cracks across the grooves = scrap and get a new one) and check tension

Hoover HDV 7 FM tumble drier. The drum is not turning (its making a loud buzzing noise like its trying to get going) and the filter light is on, although that is free from fluff. Is it time for a new drier...

sumanth m 's answer may well be correct because I have the same dryer and it has the same problem. I got a massive electric shock off mine and so I think the buzzing is a protection measure against a short circuit

High pitched squeal when running. Capacity Plus Gas Dryer ten years old.

tumble dryer / twin tub is making a loud rumbling noise when running, unplug it, take the rear cover off and remove the drive belt. Then turn the inner drum by hand. If there is a grating noise, the bearings will almost certainly need replacing

Loud screeching noise

The problem is usually caused by dry drum roller.
You need to remove the drum and lube or replace the rollers

you have to open the dryer and lubricate the rollers, these are the parts that normally make the squealing sounds.
