My dyson animal is spitting the dirt back out the bottom and shuts itself off in the upright position. No blockages I can ID
It is a blockage. Dyson cuts off in this case to prevent overload. Also leaking dirt indicates blockage. Strip everything out you can. Remove foot plate on base and check for hair or fibre blockage. it may be small and in an odd place.. seek and ye shall find. If not, return to dealer for service. Good vacuum though.
Had the same problem with mine after a thorough clean out. Turns out; when I reassembled my DC17 I failed to turn the lock all the way to secure the U shaped tube at the rear base of the vacuum. Fixed it and it now works properly :)
