You may need to replace the whole mechanism as i've had quite a few philips and marantz cd recorders with the same mechanism with exactly the same problem. when you press open/close it will display open or close with no sign of life from the player. this turned out to be a faulty laser unit and the PCB which is underneath the mechanism seems to go the same way which i found out later when i replaced the laser unit. the recorder worked for around 5 minutes then the laser started moving erratically but then would work again for 5 minutes after switching it off & on again. i cured the fault by replacing the PCB aswell. hope this helps?

The tray on DVD won't open when pressing OPEN button DVD/CD is inside

Often the tray is powered by a rubber belt. If the latter breaks or slips the try will not open/close. The motor will work and tell the electronics that all is well because it has done its job but it really hasn't since the tray is inert!

How do I enable this player to become multi-region? I believe it's based on a Pioneer rather than one of Teac's own designs.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To make it multiregional please follow these step by step instructions using your remote control:

1. Switch power on

2. Open the DVD tray (leave it open with no DVD in it)
3. Press "stop"
4. Press "734466"
5. Use cursor to scroll up or down until it says "Region 0"
6. Press "OK/Enter"
7. Switch power off
8. Switch power on

It show now play all region DVD’s. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

1 of 2 things
can you hear the motor running inside the player ????
there is usualy a snall pin hole under the tray insert a paper clip into this hile and push it in if tray starts to auto open it might be just a dry set of rails
if rails asumed dry open unit and coat the rails with anti seize and try again with the switch on front cover

Disc tray on Insignia BRDVD player will not open. Any help would be appreciated. Press the open/close button and display says either open or close. The tray does not eject though.

the disc is probably stuck out of the tray and stopping it from opening. unplug, and you should be able to pry open the front case and pull the tray out.

Tray confused

I have an LG DVD player and recorder model # RC7423W and i have a similar problem, when i open up the disk tray it displays open and the tray opens for 2 seconds only and then closes. when i press the open/close button to open it again it opens and never closes back with a "Disc Error" on display until i close it manually by pushing it back inside.
I cleaned it from dust many times and tried to reset it but no reset button. i just tried to unplug the wire and plug it back.
let me know if there is a way that i can reset the hardware or a solution to my problem. my system is around one year old
