2. To convert your Samsung HT-X200 (2.1) to an HT-X250 (5.1), you must add a DSP, several amplifier stages, one for each channel added

My Samsung HT-x250 keeps shutting down. First of all after about an hour and then ever 5 - 10 mins after that?

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.

HT-X250 Trips off then says "Protection"

I'm afraid that's teh case with your unit. PROTECTION error actually means the unit is overheating and it shuts itself off to avoid further damage. Just make sure that there are no other device below the unit and that there is adequate ventilation at the back.

If all else fails, the unit's fan is definitely defective.

My samsung home cinema system - HT-X250; Trips off every couple of minutes with "Fan Check" higlighted on the display

Had this same issue with my Samsung HT-X50, it seems these systems have cheap fans. Mine was under warranty but when I contacted samsung they wanted me to pay to ship it to them. **** that, it would of cost me 70 to ship.

What I did was open the unit take the fan and go to a computer store asking for a similar one, I got all this done for about 10 bucks. **** that samsung warranty

I have a samsung home theater system HT-X70. After 10 to 15 minutes the word protection scrolls across the screen then goodbye and finally the unit shuts itself off.

ther is dc voltage applying your speakers by amplifire itself and turn on speaker protection circuit itself.
it can be happens because
1.loose connection in amplifire board
2.faulty output section of amplifire
3.short circuit of speakers
4.error detecting circuit faulty.
if youcan open the cover and clean the circuit for dust and resolder the circuit with 30 W soldering iron cairfully.if you want the more asistence please come again
ican hlp you more.

Protection

Protection means the unit is detecting a short somewhere. Disconnect speakers and components and attempt to power on the unit again. If it will power on with nothing connected, repeat the process (turn off, connect something, then power on) until you find the bad component or speaker.
