No sound in right earbud?

Yeah, I have a 120GB iPod Classic Silver, in great condition, and recently it started playing only out of the left ear if my over-ear headphones. At first I thought it was my headphones because earlier the right side also cracked a little, but when I tested my headphones on my friend's iPod they worked normally. Then I tried her Apple earbuds on my iPod and the same problem occured. Any suggestions? I really don't want to buy a new iPod, I just don't see the point.

Oh! I really know the answer to this one! :]
I JUST had this happen to me. I have a 30gb ipod video and the same exact thing was always happening to me. I kept thinking it was the headphones, but alas, after searching it up online, I found that the headphone can just go bad! How terrible. It can happen if there is too much stress in the jack.. I think that was my problem because when I go to school, my ipod is always in my pocket and that means that when I bend down, my ipod is left with a pair of headphones that are straining the jack.. Soo... I purchased a replacement off ebay for 3 dollars. I was VERY surprised at how very SIMPLE it was to replace the jack, and I'm only 16 and have had no experience in that sort of thing. I used http://www.co-bw.com/iPod_Headphone_Jack_Repair.htm and http://www.ipodhowtovideo.com/video/videoheadphonereplacement.html the hardest part was just opening the dang thing haha. Well, just make sure you buy a 120gb headphone jack because they make different ones for different gbs.

Ipod (30 G) earbud jack only plays out of one ear

Does this still happen with a different pair of headphones? If not, get another pair. If the same behaviour with any headphones you will need to contact Apple if still in warranty to get it repaired.

My bet is with the headphones not the IPOD.

Good Luck

My left earbuds on my JVC gummy earphones went out.

I have this problem all the time with my JVC earbuds. This may sound a little gross but it will work. I put the ear phone in my mouth and **** on the end of it pretty hard. What I have found is that sweat or even wax will plug the little hole and prevent the sound from coming out.

Only the left ear bud has sound

Hey NoRightSound,

If your earbud headphones function normally with other devices, there are a number of reasons why this problem may be occurring, including faulty connections within the iPod itself or a potentially defective headphone jack. While both of these issues can typically be resolved fairly easily, I would first suggest contacting your local Apple-authorized service center for a complete diagnostic to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem.

Remember that if your iPod is still under the original manufacturer's warranty, you can always call Apple directly for technical support over the phone in addition to working with a technician in your area.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Headphones not playing in iPod

This is either cause by a damaged headphone socket in the iPod or a loose connection. The only way to solve it will involve opening the iPod case and inspecting the daughter board that the headphone socket is on.
