On most engines there are 2 wires coming from the alternator into the regulator that will be the same color. Then there will be another color wire (usually red) going from the regulator to the tractor harness. You may have to trace the wires to tell which is which. With the engine running at full throttle, the wires from the alternator should read 28-35VAC across them. If that voltage is not there, the alternator and/or flywheel (magnets under it) are bad. If the voltage is there, then check for DC voltage between the red wire at the regulator and ground. It should be in the 13-14VDC range at full throttle. If that voltage is not there but the AC "in" is there, then the regulator is bad.

You need to use a 12volt dc charger no more than 15amps.

SOURCE: kohler courage 23hp twin cylinder

Hmmm... first off, check the oil and make sure it's at the proper level - low oil can cause overheating. Second, if you haven't cleaned the engine and it's full of yard dirt and dust then you need to blow it out with about 100psi of air. Blow down through the cooling fan on top of the engine and make sure all the fins around the cylinders are clean of debris. Sound like the engine is cooking..

SOURCE: I have mio s600 and during the travel the car charger has stopped working, so the navigation automatically started to use it's one battery. After I pulled out the charger, and sticked it in again,

If you are using the lighter plug for charging it may have a fuse inside the plug itself the plugs into the lighter socket,,,,,look for a fuse there or if have a volt meter check for voltage reaching the unit when plugged that way If voltage is good to the unit from the car source the battery may be bad, either not getting a voltage for charging or battery not holding a charge.

My 2006 cub cadet Volunteer will only start if I connected a jump starterer to the battery set to 100 amps.

sounds like a bad battery. remove trickle charger and tomorrow measure battery voltage with meter should be 13-14 volts. watch meter while trying to start unit If battery is good it will only drop to 12 volts. If solenoid is bad it is bad and jumping battery will not fix it.

What should I try next? My mower will not start.

When you turn the key, do you have 12V art the Starter?
If you do, then tap the starter with a small hammer. If it cranks, then your Starter is failing

Forgot to drain gas before winter storage, what should i do to remedy this before trying to start mower?

If it w was just one season, you may be fine with the fuel in there, or try to find the lowest fuel line and remove and let it drain out.

I have a Kohler 12.5 KW marine generator on my houseboat that has a problem I was hoping you could help me with. Specs: Kohler 12.5 KW 79 CID 23HP Mfg date 9-10-96 Gen Engine Serial # 06919 L-29-R

there are some magnets behind the flywheel to cause the battery charging system to recharge the batt. sometimes they come unbonded/loose from the flywheel and cause the engine to become hard to turn. I would start there first.

14kw kohler propane generator-sometimes does not start, put battery jumper on and it starts. Battery is new, but had the same problem with the old battery.

The battery charger is defective, as you can start it by jumping it off means it is just a low battery. without it running measure battery voltage, it should be around 12V then plug the charger back in, it should climb to around 13.8B with a good battery. If not have the float charger checked.

When i try to open it it says it is open but i can't see it= And if i start it with Run, it starts opening till i restart the pc i even have problems with restarting it because the programe keeps opening...

Power drain would be a better solution in this case.
1.first shut down the comp
2.unplug the charger
3. remove the battery
and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer .

I have a troybilt tiller with a K161T Kohler 7 horsepowe engine. I have replaced all electrical components, spark plug, points, condenser, stater, all wiring, and cleaned magnets, but to no avail. I still have no spark. The points open and close properly, the plug is gapped correctly. Does anyone have an idea?
