SOURCE: scanner will not work since downloaded explorer 8
Try the scanner on another USB port first. IE8 should have nothing to do with your scanner. It is possible that your drivers got corrupted. Right click MY COMPUTER, go to PROPERTIES, then click on DEVICE MANAGER. look for any yellow exclamation or question marks. If there click on it and look at the drivers. There are options to ROLL BACK, UPDATE, UNINSTALL. If drivers are needed use your install disk or go to the Canon site and download the drivers and re-install them. Worst case scenario, connect the scanner to another computer to see if there is still a problem. If so, it is the scanner not IE8 or the computer.
Good luck and I hope this helps.
Please remember to vote if this was helpful in any way. Thanks.

The Epson film holders hold the film 1 mm (.039") above the glass scanning window. You could cut and glue 1 mm plastic sheets to make your own holder if you can't get the originals from Epson. I'm making one now that will hold more than a single frame of 120 film, which is all the original Epson holder would take.

Hello
You just try it with any other computer running on Vista or XP. Connect your device through that system and download the software. Some electronic devices like blue ray player, have internal LAN card fitted with it. If your device is such a type, you can download the software directly connecting it to an external broadband modem. We have got the software like that for a sony Blue Ray dvd. But yours have no video output device fitted inside to monitor the function. So you must connect it to an other computer itself to get the software downloaded. If it can't possible contact the manufacturer for support. Sometimes they may have the software on CD format. If so you can do thing very easy.
SOURCE: OVT Scanner won't run with Windows 7. Vupoint
We suffered this initially on a new laptop with Windows 7. I can't tell if the driver on the Vupoint website has been updated, or is the old XP/Vista driver, but we installed this (1/2011). In Picasa or the Photoimpressions software which comes with the scanner, we were then only able to acquire solid black images. However, when we tried all of the USB ports on the computer, we found that one of them (a USB2 rather than USB1 port) was able to function like normal. We suspect there is a funny issue with the amount of power going to the scanner from different USB ports, and maybe this interacts with the driver in some way.
Hello, This scanner will not be supported on windows 8, all of our USB 1.0 technology scanner will no longer be supported beyond Windows 7.
