It sounds very much as if the scanner is faulty/failed. The warming-up phase is to ensure that the scanner lamps output is steady, making for consistent scans. Usually this is just a simple timing circuit.
Having once tried to fix a broken flatbed scanner myself, I found that obtaining the correct replacement lamp for it was impossible - I think inkjet printers and scanners are considered "consumable". You may be better off buying a new printer. Alternatively, if it keeps producing good prints, consider buying a separate scanner. HTH
1. Allow pop ups on the page.
2. Select your Operating System: Mac OS X.
3. Look for the drivers section: there's a scanner driver called
mp780osxsd12131ej7.dmg. Left click on the driver for more information. On the next page read the setup information and agree to begin the download. Finish the steps in the setup information for installing the required scanner driver.
