Information on checking the foot pedal, but the last article said it was the main control board on this model, but there are a number of model numbers named 'Brilliance'.

The AA554188 serial number indicates a model 99 built after August 4, 1925. It was manufactured in Elizabeth, NJ. It is probably the foot pedal. There should be a plate that gives the model # and Serial #. You can call Singer at 1-800-4singer and order or go on their site and find it by serial #. There are also sites
like www.sewingpartsonline.com and see how much a universal foot pedal is and go from there. Usually, they are about $30.

If you know someone who is savvy in the mysteries of electricity, ask them to test the foot pedal to see if it is working and the socket on the machine to see if it is receiving power.

If you need a new foot control pedal - check the Internet for best prices - you will need the machine's model number.

If you take the machine to a dealer for service, ask what it will cost before making the trip.

The bench rate for just looking at the machine may not be worth it.
