SOURCE: LCD screen powers up but is bright white
The User Manual for your model can be downloaded in .pdf form at this URL: --> http://books.jvcservice.com/download/696783240/LYT0944-001A.pdf The adjustment instructions are clear enough in the manual that you could possibly push the right buttons to adjust the brightness down without being able to read the LCD screen while doing so. It's certainly worth your time to give it a try! Concerning your question about buying an LCD screen and replacing it yourself; you shouldn't do that. The fact that the LCD screen is all white demonstrates the fact it IS actually working. It's just being told by the camera to display all "white", so the problem is somewhere else in the camera. If trying to adjust the brightness down doesn't work for you, then your best option is likely going to be sending the camera to JVC for repair. Not knowing which part to replace could end up making the repair more costly for you if you try to do it yourself. Here is the URL for the JVC service center locater, which can find the repair location nearest to you: http://maps.jvc.com/cAscList/ Hope this helps. ;)

This sounds like a broken or cracked LCD screen. The backlite is working, thus you will get the white screen. The LCD could also be disconnected internally, or has other problems. But this is a direct problem with the LCD.
A camera like this can usually take pictures, and you may be able to use it to set the menus by using the video cable to the TV or computer screen (some flat screens have video inputs).

You most definately have bad capacitors in the power supply. try and get it repaired as soon as possible, not an expensive repair that iv'e seen.

Hi , I have the same problem with my LT-42X688,so i called the service of my extended warranty provider . the TV technician just left and told me the motherboard is the problem. he said its the third one this week he has seen with the same symptoms. he ordered the motherboard and i've got to wait 5 to 7 work days before the part will be in . I will keep you posted when the guy will return.
