LCD screen powers up but is bright white

Last week the cameraworked just fine. Yesterday I turned it on and when I flipped open the LCD screen, it powered up but was bright white light, no picture from recording, no viewfinder mode, just bright white. My only options for repair are to mail it away for two or three weeks for a minimum of $60.00 with no promise that it can be fixed. I checked JVC's part site and a new LCD monitor is in excess of $140.00 but may be worth it to buy and repair ourselves, f that is possible. I have found no other questions posted anywhere identical to this problem. As I said the camera works just fine, if I use only the small viewfinder. The LCD Screen comes on but is totally white. Do you have any suggestions. Can we do this ourselves and save money, ship it to factory and spend lotsa money or scrap it and spend even more money. I love this camera and miss my LCD screen. Please reply as soon as possible. My little guy has his first golftournament on Friday and I would love to be able t follow him around with the camera's LCD screen.

Actually, there is a menue mode to brighten or darken the lcd screen HOWEVER to access that mode the LCD screen must be open and viewable. The menue wheel is the same as the bright wheel. When the lcd is open and you turn the wheel the bright indicator displays on the LCD screen you can not access any of the lcd menue options through the view finder. All lcd menue options display on the lcd screen only. I can not see them to change them because the screen is toooooooooooo bright.

The User Manual for your model can be downloaded in .pdf form at this URL: --> http://books.jvcservice.com/download/696783240/LYT0944-001A.pdf The adjustment instructions are clear enough in the manual that you could possibly push the right buttons to adjust the brightness down without being able to read the LCD screen while doing so. It's certainly worth your time to give it a try! Concerning your question about buying an LCD screen and replacing it yourself; you shouldn't do that. The fact that the LCD screen is all white demonstrates the fact it IS actually working. It's just being told by the camera to display all "white", so the problem is somewhere else in the camera. If trying to adjust the brightness down doesn't work for you, then your best option is likely going to be sending the camera to JVC for repair. Not knowing which part to replace could end up making the repair more costly for you if you try to do it yourself. Here is the URL for the JVC service center locater, which can find the repair location nearest to you: http://maps.jvc.com/cAscList/ Hope this helps. ;)

I have the White Screen of Death

Try pressing the reset button underneath the antenna and if this doesn't help, then you'll need to have the LCD display replaced.

Toshiba portege s100-s1133 lcd screen

Hi,
A pink or red screen which may gradually turn back to it's appropriate color indicates the lcd is going out. It could last quite some time in tht condition, but it's going. replacement isn't too bad though.
good luck

Monitor Black, Green Power Light Flashes Monitor is 4 yrs. old

Assuming you've already checked your driver and system settings, tried a different monitor, and checked the cable and connector pins, this would almost certainly be a problem with the power or signal circuit board inside the monitor.
