I have been looking for sometime and have finally found a 3rd party power converter. Another solution is to send your docking station to Bose and for $99.00 they will repin the dock so charging will work. The converter and adapter only cost about $30.00. Here is the link to the site I ordered from. I just ordered it so I am not abot to confirm functionality yet..... http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/firewire-to-usb-converter

It's because the port on the base of the ipod is slightly different. It's all a marketing scheme if you ask me. The more slight differences between ipods and accesories, the more money apple makes. Sorry to say it. You will probably just have to do what I do for a cheap other way to go; Plug your ipod in to somewhere it does charge and just buy ordinary speakers at a store for around 10 dollars. Hope this helps!
Hi, the best best if you are going to spend that kind of money is to fit the Invebo innexxis BC6 Bluetooth and charge upgrade to the dock. It will take you about five minutes to bring your dock bang up to date and stream from your handset whether it be Apple, Samsung etc etc. You get a new 15 micron double anchor dock connector too. click here for the guide video.

Your iPod is newer than the dock and I'm not sure why Apple does this, other than to sell more hardware, but your iPod is not compatible with your dock, so it will not allow charging. You can probably still us it for playing music, just not for charging. Sorry
Maybe this could be the solution... Source: http://www.speakerstation.co.uk/ipod-speaker-docks-ct-87.html "... Important Note: iPods released since Sept 2008 (e.g.
Touch 2nd Gen, 4th Gen iPod Nano and iPod Classic 120 Gigabyte, iPhone

Unfortunately there is no real fix for this. Apple changed the charging from USB to Firewire, so the old charging methods don't work anymore. I purchased an adapter somewhere on the internet that worked with some devices and not with others, but I can't remember where I got it from.
You will either have to wait for apple to change it, or bose to find a work around, or get a new unit.
The original SoundDock will not charge the iPod touch 2nd gen, or the iPhone 3G, or the new nano either. This is because Apple changed the way their new iPod products charge. (via USB only now)
There is 1 solution- Call Bose tech support. They can replace the 30 pin metal connector for a new one that will charge this. If this is not under warranty, it will cost $99, but it's worth it. New 1 year warranty, and compatibility with all iPods (except much older- non-clickwheel iPods)
The new SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible all iPods and the iPhone 3G. Also the SoundDock Portable will do this.
But..
Better news-> Call Bose. They can upgrade the 30-pin connector to charge via USB-only and function with the remote as well. $99. This will make your iPod touch 100% compatible and somewhat future-proof your SoundDock.
If the SoundDock was purchased within 90 days (at full retail price), they will do the upgrade for a smaller fee or even free I think.. (new 1 year warranty given with repair/mod)
btw- This is an Apple issue, not a Bose issue. All 3rd party iPod connection devices had to make this change at some point.
