My Bose docking station worked perfectly with my old IPOD Classic but will only play one song, will not change songs, will not allo the remote to work, nor will it charge my IPOD Touch 32? Does anyone know if there's a soluction? Thanks
Hello all,
I have a Bose Sound System, and wrote that my iPOD touch would not charge. Got a message back from Bose, see comments. Do write them, as they give a solution. Seems they feel us on this issue...
'Bose is aware that the new versions of the Apple® iPod® Touch (8GB, 16GB and 32GB) and iPod Nano (8GB and 16GB) do not charge when docked on the original Bose® SoundDock®.
Previous versions of these iPods used a specific pin on the dock connector on the bottom of these iPods for charging purposes. The pin to charge these iPods was changed to a different pin with the introduction of the newer models mentioned above.
The Bose® SoundDock® was designed to charge iPod models which were designed to be charged via the older charging pin.
Bose is pleased to offer a solution which will allow you to send the SoundDock directly to Bose, so it can be modified to charge these newer model iPods via the new charging pin that Apple has used on these newer models.
If you are interested in learning additional details about this program, then we will need to know some additional information:
--Daytime phone number
--Daytime UPS shipping address
--Reseller the SoundDock was purchased from
--Date of purchase from the reseller
--Serial number from the bottom of the SoundDock
With this information, we can provide additional information regarding this program, so you can determine if you would like to take advantage of the offer.
Note: If you elect not to receive additional information regarding this program, please be aware that these newer model iPods will still play audio through the Bose SoundDock, and the SoundDock remote will still control the iPod while it is docked, however, the SoundDock will not charge these iPods for the reasons noted above.
Thank you for contacting Bose Corporation.

You need to reset your ipod. You can go online to find out how to do this. I had to do it with mine and then it worked perfectly.
Problem Solved. There is a black plastic insert that frames the port. You'll see a grove in the back that allows you to pop up this insert allowing the iPod touch to go deeper improving the connection. This resolved the connection and the responsiveness of the remote. As per Bose, all iPods are compatible to the Bose sound dock. I'm just happy I didnt make a $300 mistake. Enjoy
I Have two ipod touch 4th gen, they work fine but only one will work with the Dock system, but only one will charge on Dock system, they both work on the Laptop and they both charges to the wall what's wrong
A low-cost option is buy and fit the charge upgrade board from Invebo. They do several versions for the Sounddock Original. I fitted one with the innexxis BC6 charge and Bluetooth upgrade with the later tougher docking connector. (A new docking connector is fitted when you fit the upgrade) There is a great instruction video and it took about five minutes to fit.

Yes, the simplest thing to do is to fit the USB charge upgrade kit available on the invebo website. It takes about 5 mins to fit and there are detailed videos on how to do it. Then your devices charge and you do not get annoying compatibility messages,
