I have a bose ipod dock, and 2 ipods one newer 80gb classic and a much older 40gb classic. Initially the bose charged my docked 80gb classic, but after i plugged in my older 40 gb classic (which I knew would n't charge, as described in bose literature)the 80 gb classic will now not charge when docked. Any suggestions?
SOURCE: does the new bose dock station charge the new ipod touch (32g)?
The new SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible all iPods and the iPhone 3G. Also the SoundDock Portable will do this.
But..
Better news-> Call Bose. They can upgrade the 30-pin connector to charge via USB-only and function with the remote as well. $99. This will make your iPod touch 100% compatible and somewhat future-proof your SoundDock.
If the SoundDock was purchased within 90 days (at full retail price), they will do the upgrade for a smaller fee or even free I think.. (new 1 year warranty given with repair/mod)
btw- This is an Apple issue, not a Bose issue. All 3rd party iPod connection devices had to make this change at some point.
SOURCE: new ipod nano not compatable with bose docking
This is true. The new iPod nano is not compatible with the original SoundDock. This only means that it won't charge the iPod's power. Audio should be okay. This is an Apple issue. They changed the way almost all of their iPods charge (except the iPod classic). Bose can upgrade the SoundDock for their normal repair fee of $99. This would also you a new 1 year warranty.

Hi
To fix this you will need to have the dock/cradle re-soldered. I know someone who does this and does not charge a fortune. If you would like to get it fixed then let me know,

SOURCE: new ipod won't charge on bose docking station
I have been looking for sometime and have finally found a 3rd party power converter. Another solution is to send your docking station to Bose and for $99.00 they will repin the dock so charging will work. The converter and adapter only cost about $30.00. Here is the link to the site I ordered from. I just ordered it so I am not abot to confirm functionality yet.....

I had my 80gb Classic in my handbag, and my waterbottle leaked all over it. The ipod has completely dried out, and is working correctly, except it wont charge, on my dock or MP3 charger, however I have not tried on my USB port as I have no clue where that is...But it usually chrges on the dock and charger. Confused? I know I am! I have tried the 'Hold down center and menue for 8 seconds' and it didnt help. I havent got enough money to buy a new ipod or get the battery changed! Any Suggestions anyone?
