    Thanks for the quick response,
Do you think it will be expensive to repair??

Otherwise i might as well buy a new kit or a standalone dvd player.....

Some of my speakers arn't playing sound on my HT-E555OW

If you are trying to play a cd, you must manually tell the unit to play it in surround sound. Cd audio defaults to stereo only. Does it do the same thing if you are playing a dvd? If it happens on dvd's as well, then something in the speaker setup menu is wrong.

I have a Sansui RZ-7001 home theater system but cannot get surround sound when connecting my LG Blu-ray BD 550 to it. What am I doing wrong?

fred i dutoi,

Check your connections first. Make sure your input on the Sansui RZ-7001 menu is selected to dvd. Also, make sure the blue ray cables are also inserted in the correct inputs on the rear of the receiver(dvd input). via. rca cables(red, white & yellow) the yellow is the video, hdmi, or optical. If you do not hear sounds coming from your speakers you need to check the separate volume levels for the speakers within the receiver itself. Front and rears having different volume levels within the receiver. Hope this helps. Also make sure you check the volume on the dvd player. Thanks for visiting FixYa.com. Have a great day !

Optical sound problem

i have the same problem with the RZ-4900AV, it manifests itself when any video application runs through either the optical or coaxial input. in my case it's definitely not the optical cable itself, which works fine on another receiver. optical or coaxial input of audio CD's is fine, but a DVD video on the same DVD player gives the high pitched whine. the same with the PS2 on the optical input, audio CD in the PS2 no problem, PS2 game or DVD video gives the whine... i think, unfortunately, it's a crap receiver... and i solved the problem by buying a RZ-6900AV, which works perfectly in exactly the same environment.
