Yes in order to have audio going to your spare speakers from the sub .You would need to use the hi level inputs comming from the reciever outputs connected to these hi level inputs..The sub will then crossover the audio to their proper outputs..Hope this helps you

Hello Marc, for what you comment, you can have several possibilities of failure, first you should see the belts of the mechanics, that are not stretched or cut, on the other hand, when you press the play key, the engine should work, otherwise it does , you could have the wrong engine or the key that sends current
I sent you the link to download the service manual
I hope you can solve it and enjoy your Sansui
Greetings Franco Dosil

Hello Chris, try to clean the volume controls, balance, tone and switching keys, with some clean contact spray, be very careful in the amount you apply, always try applying a drop of the cleaner and watch if the noise level goes down If you do not achieve results, you should replace the controls that generate the noise
Look for a good specialized technical service
Greetings Franco Dosil

Sad to say it's likely to be 1 or more transistors in the power amp circuit, although there are other possible causes.
Luckily the repair manual is available ( and the power amp is built with discrete components, so it should be easily repaired
Most common causes would be an output transistor or dry solder joint(s) due to transistors / resistors getting hot and cooking a solder joint or 2.
Inspect all solder joints carefully with a magnifier, looking for signs of localised heating/burning and/or crysalisation of the solder.
It's normal to replace output transistors as a matched pair even when only one has failed, to minimise distortion. Replacement transistors should of course be as close to the original specs as possible (or better) if genuine parts are not available. The bias will need to be adjusted as per manual (1.5mV emitter to emitter of output transistors).
Good luck.

Hello, from what you describe there may be several reasons for this to happen
First, lower the volume to the position between No. 4 and No. 5 of the adjustment range, then select an input that you have a CD or DVD player OR simply put the radio and tune to a station, after having something that give you sound, verify that Tape / DAT and VCR1 controls are not enabled, since they cancel the listening directly, if you can not solve it, verify that the jumpers on the rear panel correspond to the input and Processor output
I sent you a photo that tells you what I describe
If you have technical knowledge I send you the link to download the service manual
If with all this checked, you do not have positive results, go to a specialized technical service
I hope I can hear your Sansui soon
Greetings Franco Dosil

Hello Tracie, the PT260A team, does not have connections for the equalizer, what you can do is connect your audio source to the equalizer input and output it to an amplifier input
If you have more than one input that you want to equalize, then you should have a small sound mixer, connecting to this the different sources to play and the output of the console to the input of the equalizer and the output of this to the amplifier

Hello Chung, it is very possible that it is necessary to replace the reader of the compactera, or at the most, try to adjust it, to rescue it
The fact that you connect unaq compactera in the back of the equipment and not heard, there may be several reasons to review,
To be wrong the audio cable, to be connected incorrectly in the equipment, example to be connected in a rec output or that the player does not have audio output

Hello Nick, the Bias control, is used to optimize the polarization of the recording-playback head, at the time of recording, depending on the type of tape you use, you have to try
A lot of Bias level, it can give you good bass recording, but the highs can be missing, you have to go regulating, starting from the central position and turning to + or to - and find the sound you like in the recording

Hello Jeff, for what you describe you have problems in the phono preamplifier stage, it is usually solved by making a replacement of transistors, electrolytic capacitors and some fuse resistors
If you are going to do this work, it would be good if you apply it in all the capacitors and low signal transistors of the equipment
It is very important to get good low noise transistors, just as the capacitors are of the highest quality, to maintain the excellent sound of your Sansui AU-517
