No video from AV1 channel connected to a Toshiba DVD player via Component to Sharp Aquos TV via HDMI. Audio is fine via Optical cable.

Usually you cannot mix and match sources and outputs. In other words, if you're using component to connect from DVD player to a receiver, you have to also use component to connect from receiver to TV. Input and output MUST be the same - both HDMI or both Component.

Dvd player seems to be jammed. Is it possible to repair? We haven't tried to repair.

The drawer loading mechanisms are generally not hard to repair, just somewhat delicate. The slot-loading mechanisms are really delicate and fussy. Some drawer mechanisms use a belt drive and the belt sometimes goes bad.

Gear mechanisms usually have a clutch that slips if the mechanism is overloaded. If that is happening, clean out any foreign material (dirt, sawdust, etc.) from the gears and lubricate the gears with a very thin white or silicone grease or if the gears had no grease, use paste wax. Apply lubricant sparingly. You can turn the drawer motor shaft by hand to observe what is happening.

Sometimes the mechanism will jam if the CD gets mis-located on the tray. This is more common on multi-disc units - if the unit is tilted with discs inside, they slide out of their spots and get into all kinds of mischief.

General precautions: do all of your work with the device unplugged. Do not touch the electronics, especially not the optical components. They are vulnerable to static electricity damage, and the optical head focus mechanism is very delicate. And no, you can't protect it with a plastic sheet; the plastic itself will zap the electronics. Just be careful not to touch the optics, period. It usually is not that hard to work around.

What kind of batteries do i use and where do the batteries go?

Hello David. David you night vision doesn't use any batteries that one installs. You have Kalinka Zenit NV monocular that is Russian manufactured but is sold by Night Vision Optics. Your night vision uses a piezo electric ignitor to charges the batteries and charge a couple capacitors.

The lever on top to the Zenit monocular is activated by squeezing the handle that is covered in a rubber type material. Just keep squeezing on the lever and in while things will start working. Best of Luck David. GB...stewbison

What kind of optical drive uses the gateway 3610gzits sata or ide

Look on this page: Gateway 3610GZ. It's not on the specifications page, as you would expect, but if you go to Components > DVD drives > Main View it says Enhanced IDE (ATAPI) I would double check before buying a new one, though. Just take the drive out. There are usually only 1 or 2 screws holding it in on the bottom, and the drive should slide out the side.

An optical cable is digital but its only audio not video. Are you connected to a cable or satellite box, are you using composit video, s-vid, component video, or hdmi? What kind of cable goes from your denon to your tv?

Just inherited a Pioneer F727 and need to connect it to a new Yamaha V863. The Pioneer has numerous connections as does the Yamaha. I will be using the disc player for both audio and video (CD/DVD). What...

If you have HDMI on your TV use the component video / digital optical from DVD changer to the receiver. Your receiver will upconvert the picture. The sound will also be sent via the HDMI. If you don't have HDMI still use the digital optical or the digital coax connections. The next best thing to HDMI would be using the component connections (RED, GREEN, BLUE) Good Luck

I have an aspire 5315 can somebody tell me why the curser keeps sticking or jumping

Hi lesandlen,

Well, there are a lot of factors that could be involved with your cursor acting up. For starters, could you answer if it is a trackball, optical, or laser mouse? What kind of surface are you using it on? And did it come with a driver CD that you have installed?

Generally, your cursor will move erratically when the sensor that detects movement of the mouse is fed mis-information. If it's a trackball, this can happen when foreign material is caught along the inside wheel sensors besides the trackball. On an optical mouse, it can be similar foreign material interfering with the digital camera's ability to take pictures of your mouse surface. Similar for a laser, but they are much more precise.

Could you provide us with more information? Thanks!
