Confusion connecting my receiver to the RCA255 dvd receiver for cd use

Can I do this. I don't know what I am doing. I just bought an AVR 310 audio video receiver (harman/kardon) and I want to connect a cd player to it so I went to the local cash converters and got this RCA255 dvd receiver. Can I use this to play my CD's with my receiver or am I way off. Pls help.

    Hi

Thank you so much, I had an idea what I was doing was not working. I ended up driving to Best Buy a getting their 5 disc CD changer - Insignia. (Any good? I just need something to get me by until I can get a better one - if needed). I have all the speakers, but my subwoofer is not working. I probably do not have it set up right. Any suggestions? It sounds awesome. I am listening to K. Clarksons new album and it sounds soo good. Thank you so much. I went from a small system to my 2nd hand receiver - but it is deluxe. I love it!! Thx so much for you help. This is an awesome service. Good for a single Mom who doesn't know what she is doing - or its a struggle at times!! Thx so much again.

    One more thing!

On my receiver it is stating I am in analog. ???? All my speakers are working but my sub. It is a velodyne DLS 3500 R. Thx.

  • jparker101 Nov 18, 2007

Yeh - thx It's NOT making any noise. I had a pro come and set up my system and I moved it from upstairs (TV room) down to the main floor. I THINK he only had one monster cable connecting it to the receiver. But I am not sure. I don't have it connected properly now. It is on but no sound! Thx!!

Ok is your cash converters purchase a RCA, RTD255 system or is the RCA255 you quote something else, I'll assume that we are dealing with the first, and that seems to be a All in one system that contains speaks amp etc

You also have your new AVR 310 which is amplifier that one would connect a stand alone DVD/CD player to, You wouldn't connect the cash converter purchase to it, it is a seperate system.

You could use your cash converter system alone without the AVR310 but not with it.

Do you have speakers connected to your Harman Karden amp (nice amp), do not use the ones that come with the cash converter stuff it will cook em!

HERE is specs I used in checking your amp.

THIS is spec sheet on your RCA (not so nice) unit

on the RCA unit note there is no Audio output facility i.e.

    Audio In / Out 2 / 0

    Video In / Out 0 / 1

Cheers Janice, Subwoofer, we can check if it is connected correctly by a feature your amp has got, i'll be post back in a tic

I want to know if amp is sending sound to subwoofer when in another sound mode. Could be cause CD's are stereo and you want 5.1 but most amps can convert and yours surely will.

Analog just means that a Stereo (2 channel) sound source has been detected, when using DVD (5.1 channel) it should notice.

There is "OSD" button on your remote, press it to get to setup screen (tv needs to be hooked up to HK)

Check to see if there is cable plugged into subwoofer output on rear of HK if TEST TONE fails.

    Can get around TV.

Hello Fixya team, I need help!

To set up your home theater system with the equipment you mentioned, follow these steps:
  1. Connect the Onkyo receiver to the NEC TV using an HDMI cable. Make sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to the correct input for the Onkyo receiver.
  2. Connect the Panasonic DVD player to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  3. Connect the Firestick Lite to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  4. Connect the Panasonic speakers to the Onkyo receiver using speaker wires. Make sure you connect the speakers to the correct speaker terminals on the receiver, which are usually labeled with the speaker's position (e.g. front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right).
  5. Configure the Onkyo receiver to use the correct input for each device. For example, set the input to "DVD" when you want to watch a movie on the Panasonic DVD player, or set the input to "Firestick" when you want to watch content on the Firestick Lite.
  6. Configure the audio settings on the Onkyo receiver to use the correct audio format for your content. For example, if you are watching a movie with Dolby Digital surround sound, make sure the receiver is set to decode Dolby Digital audio.
  7. Adjust the volume and other audio settings on the Onkyo receiver as needed to optimize the sound quality.
Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to enjoy surround sound audio from your Panasonic speakers through the Onkyo receiver.

We recently purchased an AVR 146 receiver and have attempted to connect our DVR satellite receiver, a DVD player/recorder and our Hitachi (non HD) TV, plus a surround sound system to it. The surround sound...

Hello,

This is how the connection is suppose to be, DVR "OUT", to TV "IN" using the RCA plugs, then press AV on the TV. If this is how you connected it, then maybe there is something wrong with the video wire (Yellow).

As for the DVD, you need to connect an Audio wire separately because the component Red + Green + Blue wire only stands for video. Audio is Red and White, this must be connected for you to get sound from the DVD.

To connect the Audio for your DVD player, connect Red and White wire to Audio "OUT" of your DVD player, to "AUX" in of your AVR 146 receiver, then select AUX on your receiver and sound will come out from your DVD through the receiver.

I hope this is not complicated for you. This connection is simple, all you need is to understand the basics which is OUT and IN. If you want to watch DVD on your TV, this means the DVD will be good OUT to IN of the DVD. The same goes for audio.

If you don't understand, please let me know so that I can direct you further.

Good luck.

Noise coming out of speakers connected to Denon AVR 1908

Check for nearby wireless devices and move them away. -If the audio output from the source device (i.e. DVD, CD player) is digital (i.e. PCM, DTS or Dolby Digital) you're on your own. I'd be willing to bet the output is analog (red and white RCA), because the "beeps" and "exploding sounds" you describe seem like it could be caused by interference. Try replacing the cables. Otherwise the issue is probably with your receiver.
