what tablet is it ? you will have to do a full factory restore ( loosing everything ) if its apple then plug it into a compter and use itunes to restore it ( if you have synced before then you wont loose everything ) if its android turn the tablet off/hold the volume up button and the home button together and keep holding them while you power the tablet on,you will get a menu to restore it. some tablets have a very small reset hole on the back, use a paper clip and push the tiny button in that hole to reset it.
Reboot by holding power button and pressing start button. Check to make sure Nook is charging. Cord that plugs into Nook may be loose in port. Try wiggling and pressing power button at same time.
I solved this problem few times by completely opening my HTC Desire Z mobile phone and then reassembling it. Third time, I noticed that the problem is due to looseness of two, out of three, tiny screws at the "camera" button of the mobile set. Therefore, mobile set was not properly pressed and sealed at the "Camera" button and due to some protection by HTC, screen went black. Now I have used new relatively long tiny screws and the problem is solved permanently.
remove the battery and the power from the laptop.....then press and hold down the power button for 20 seconds ...... attach the AC power only and turn on the laptop this should turn on the system. This drains the capacitors on the system (safety feature of laptops ... quite common)
If this does not work remove the Ram and reseat it ... something has either come loose or the backlight on the LCD has gone bad.
