Make sure you have proper voltage on both the red and yellow wires in the main wiring harness to the back of the radio. Car stereos have two 12-volt inputs. If only one is connected, you can get unexpected results. If you have voltage (12v+) on these two wires and the radio has ground, then unplug it and reconnect. If it still doesn't work, the radio is toast.

Sounds like something is tripping the sensor. I believe those have a sensor so that if it hits something it goes back.
It will need sent in to a qualified tech to be fixed if the cause of the problem isn't obvious.

Hello livinglifeas,

You can connect the regular preamp outputs to a sub amp. Dedicated sub outputs will normally have a built-in crossover whereas the regular front/rear preamp outs will be full-range. Just make sure that the amp you use for your sub(s) has a "low pass" filter.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like you have the Premium Sound system. The main power plug is long and probably black, the other plug is square with a grey round cord coming out correct?

You can either take your power harness back and get the correct one ( a little more expensive) or run ALL 4 sets of speaker wires back to the right rear quarter panel. That is were the OEM amp is mounted and taking that panel out requires you to remove the top and bottom tailgate trims, a dozen screws, the seat belt D-ring and 4-5 plastic push clips that will probably snap off...:( Also, this will not make the OEM subwoofer work.

From 20 years experiance in this biz, save the time, spend the extra 30$ or so and just buy the correct connector. Check MetraOnline.com and search there.

Cut the red and yellow wires and cross them to the opposites and connect again and this will save your cd players memory

Hello raptor_bot,

The problem is that the dash opening in your Alero is only 6 3/8" in depth and the XDMR7710 is 7X7X2, which means that unless you cut into the vehicle firewall to make some room, 5/8" of the receiver will need to stick out the front of the dash.

Why not select a receiver that fits?

Hope this helps.

It could be a few different factors.

Do you burn your cd's with a computer?
If so,what program do you use?If you use Nero,Roxio or any burning software of this sort, the data may not burn correctly resulting in an error during playback.

Another common problem can be the cd you are using or the drive it burns on.There are so many variables in CD burning that can lead to these issues. It happens to me a lot,so the solution is:

Use windows media to burn and it should go well most of the time.If you still have the problem,it may be the drive which can be replaced at low cost.

If they are regular cds you bought from the record company, than it is most likely the brand of car stereo you have. The laser could be damaged from putting scratched or damaged cd's in,or it could just be that the player is not great.

I had this same problem.Took it to a friend and we bypassed the amp completely and ran new wires to all the speakers.
