My monther's issue was because her ISP's (Bell) router, home hub 3000, comes default with the 2.4G and 5G SSID named the same with the same password. So her 2.4G was on a Band that was super weak, like 30%, but her 5G was at 90%. This was causing her wifi connections to use 5G as it was more available. Problem with the kindle is that it is limited to use the 1 - 11 channels / 2.4G only. I resolved this by going to the routers config (192.168.2.1) and changing the SSID from Bell553 to Foxtrot. Then i changed the 5G SSID to Foxtrox-5G and made different passwords for both. Rebooted the router and the kindle was able to connect to the 2.4G network.

Can you connect other devices to your wifi using the same password?
If so, it is the Kindle at fault.
Go to your wifi connections in Settings and remove your connection (I think it may say "forget").
Turn off your Kindle by holding down the power button for a full 30 seconds.
Restart your Kindle and connect to wifi, re-entering the password on the back of your router.

How to get connected to wi fi

To connect to a Wi-Fi network with a hidden SSID, select Add Wi-Fi network from the settings. Then manually type in your SSID and password, and select your network security type. Select Save when finished. Now you can browse the web through your Wi-Fi router or connect to other network devices

I have no idea what my Wi-Fi password is, so can't activate the Kindle. This is my 4th Kindle; I bought the others with no help, but have no record of Wi-fi password.

The wifi password is the password installed in the router that allows any and all wireless devices to connect to your wireless network. Unless this Kindle is the only wireless device you have, then you probably know the password, since it was used on all the other devices as well. Even if you don't know it, you may have it. If the router was from the ISP, and you didn't change anything, the wifi password may be written on the base of the router. If you DID change the password and forgot it, as long as you can access the router setup,. you can go in and create a new wifi password.

Cannot connect to wi fi

It is either the wrong wifi access point or you have the cap lock on.

My kindle says I am not connected to wireless. What can I do?

You can try to connect by:

On the Homepage, touch (or select) the settings icon (three horizontal bars).

In the menu that comes up, touch *Settings*. Find and turn OFF Airplane Mode. This will turn on your Wi-Fi radio transceiver.

Then touch (or select if your's isn't a touch screen) Wi-Fi Networks and select they one you wish to connect to. You will need to enter the correct password one time and the device will remember it thereafter and you'll not have to enter it again.

My kindle wi-fi keeps kicking out. I have G3 and never had to put in a specific wi-fi source. Now it continually asks me to connect, and won't even accept a proper on our home wi-fi router.

Your kindle has a sim card installed for 3G (lifetime licence paid by amazon and paid for on purchase price on the unit) but that is not related to the wi-fi function on your kindle. Your wi-fi service needs to be logged in to with the same password as you use to log any computer on to your router when at home or whatever wi-fi password is required when elsewhere (e.g a bus, train or restaurant).

How to tune in kindle to wi fi?

From the Home screen, press the Menu button.
Select Settings, and then select view next to Wi-Fi Settings.
In the list of detected networks, choose a network to connect to it.
If your Wi-Fi network and router support WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), your Kindle will detect it.
If you don't see your network in the list, you need to add the network manually.
If the network is protected by a password or WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), enter the password and then select Submit. If you don't know the Wi-Fi network password, contact the person who set up the Wi-Fi network. After you connect to a Wi-Fi network, your Kindle automatically connects to it again whenever that network is in range. If more than one network is in range, your Kindle automatically connects to the last network used.

My kindle keeps asking for a wi-fi password for sky37606

If sky37606 is your own wi-fi service then the password is normally on a typed label stuck to the wi-fi router itself along with the SSID of the wi-fi network which should be sky37606 in confirmation you are connecting to the correct network.

If sky37606 is not your own wi-fi then you will either need to contact the owner or administrator of that network or select a different wi-fi network to connect to as described in the Kindle Support web pages for your device.
