My xerox 6505 workcentre will only copy 2 copies then shuts down and says Load tray 1 which is already loaded. I am trying to make 50 copies and can only get two and then have to open the tray and cl

change paper source. Probably on computer in printing preferences
If it works copying then it most likely is a setting in the computer . Click on print and there should be a printing preferences option comes up before you commit to sending the print to printer.

You Really need to have this Machine Cleaned. there is too Much Paper dust On the sensor

Solutions for : Vertical Black Lines on Copies When the Automatic Document Feeder and Document Glass are Used Solution : Clean the Drum

1. Make sure there is paper loaded in the paper tray.
2. Press the [Menu / Exit] button on the Control Panel.
3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button until 'Maintenance' is displayed on the Display Screen.
4. Press the [Enter] button. 'Clean Drum' will be displayed.
5. Press the [Enter] button. 'Cleaning Drum Please Wait' will be displayed and a sheet of paper will be printed. Toner (Dry Ink) particles on the Drum will be affixed to the paper.
6. Repeat steps 1 - 5 until the page prints without any Toner particles.

take the trays out and make sure there is no paper stuck down the back of the draws

Clearing the Paper Path

When a paper misfeed occurs the red misfeed indicator flashes
on the WorkCentre diagram, and an E status code will flash in
the Display Window. Paper misfeeds may occur in the areas
shown below. Follow the steps below to locate and clear the
misfeed.
Note: Ensure that the alternate paper tray is lowered
(XL2140df only).
Caution: Do not touch the shiny drum cartridge surface.
Scratches or smudges will result in poor copy quality.
Do not remove paper through the bypass. Unfused toner may
adhere in the area, resulting in smudged copies.

Steps 1-2 for XL2140df only
1. Lower the right Side Tray 2 Access Door.
2. Remove the misfed paper.
3. Close the Access Door.
If paper cannot be removed, open drawer (2) clear misfed paper.
4. Close the Side Cover.

2. Carefully remove the misfed paper in the direction shown.
If paper cannot be reached, open the paper trays and remove

Fuser Area
Warning: The fuser area is hot. Take care when removing
paper from the fuser area.
Note: Ensure that the Alternate Paper Tray is lowered

1. Press the Release Lever to open the Side Cover.
2. Pull down on the fuser lever.
• This will release pressure on the paper.
Caution: Do not pull paper up through the fusing unit. Unfused toner
may adhere in the area, resulting in smudged copies.
3. Remove the sheet of paper in the direction shown.
4. Close the Side Cover.

1. Pull down on the fuser lever.
• This will release pressure on the paper.
2. Gently pull the paper out through the exit area.

to move the paper to the exit area.

1) magenta drum has already reach life span.
2)poor cleaning of magenta drum process unit.
3)recommended to replace the mageta process unit.

P will flash on the screen when the paper tray is empty, paper misfeeds or the paper tray door isn't closed all the way. Make sure both (if you have 2 paper trays) are loaded, that the paper isn't folder and wrinkled, and ensure that the tray doors are closed firmly. Then hit start on the workcentre to continue any unfinished jobs.
