What would cause very dark blurred display all modes on Samsung P2250?

Screen is very dark, barely visible regardless of input (VGA or DVI). With no video connected you see the cable not connected message, but it is so dark & blurred (like the video is) it cannot be discerned. All LEDs light up when 'button' pressed. Other (Samsung) monitors work fine. Monitor displays same symptoms when I brought it to my office.

I have the monitor disassembled. The two lamps appear to be embedded at the top and bottom of the lcd display screen. The cables to them come from the power supply board. All the capacitors on the power board look intact, no bulging, leaking electrolyte. Seems to me that both lamps would have to have failed. This doesn't seem likely.

if the lamps dont come on then the inverter to them is dead , a usual symptom. it supplies a low current high voltage high frequency 1500 or more volts. disconnect each lamp one at a time . or get an old lamp from a broken laptop screen. it has same plug likely.

The tube lamp is degraded an needs replaced . the high voltage to the lamp might be weak corroded connection too.
consider changing the lamp out for led strip
i ordered 1 ccfl lamp many times from china for 2.50 an they are always damaged . too long for the mail.
i can order the same ccfl lamp from us for 40.
so
im going to insert led strips in place of the lamp.
its not that hard if your a tinker

What would cause dark blurred display all modes?

I suspect the monitor is dying. Unless it is under warranty, you may need to replace it, as getting it fixed may cost more than a new one.

Faulty VGA input

It is uncommon to have a faulty VGA input, although occasionally the pins get bent or broken on the cable. First check the cable.

Have you tried using a different source?

Some graphics cards/computers will only output DVI and VGA separatly and not at the same time. You may have to go into the display settings of your computer and change the output from DVI to VGA.

More details would be great,

Thanks!

"No signal detected" when LCD connected with DVI-D Cable

Thank you for providing your configuration details.
You have failed to specify wheather or not your LCD Display is under Warrenty.

Perhaps these simple trouble shooting procedures will get the job done.

1. use the DVI to VGA adaptor that came with your card

Plug in a regular CRT monitor to the Primary Display Output Port using the DVI to VGA adaptor
( either port can be designated as the primary by you )
I like to use the Port nearest to the motherboard as the Primary

2. plug in the your LCD monitor on Secondary Display port using your DVI cable

At this point you should be able to see your desktop on the Primary CRT Display

3. Go to the display properties and use the Nvidia Dual Display Setup Wizard

set both desktops to CLONED at a resolution of 1024x768 and set the refresh to 60Hz
which is default for most LCD displays , some have higher refresh rates , consult your user manuel

If the display resolution and refresh are set incorrectly for your CRT or LCD you will see
Signal Out of Range ( if the display has the ability to display that error message )

At this stage both displays should be showing a Windows Desktop

If you now see your desktop on both displays , you can now put the LCD on the Primary Port

No Signal Detected ( this means the display device is not receiving a signal )

If your LCD display is still displaying the error message
"No Signal Detected" after performing the trouble shooting proceedures
You may need to read the user manuel about how to enable DVI signal input.

If you are certan you have done everything correctly but still see only "No Signal Detected"

Your LCD Display may need replacement

Use of HDI-V input on PPM42M5SBx

the answer is no as VGA is a analog connection whereas the DVI connection is digital just like HDMI.
A DVI input on your display wont understand the analog signal and vise versa, hope this helps
