Precor Error 05, Key Depressed at Power Up Probable Cause 1. A key is permanently depressed on the display.
2. An interface chip (IC) has failed in the upper PCA's keypad.
3. Liquid (cleaning solution or sweat) may be on the surface of a touch sensitive display.
Corrective Action

  1. Disconnect the keypad cable from the upper PCA. Reset power to the machine. If the Error 05 is eliminated, the keypad is the cause and should be replaced.
  2. Disconnect the keypad cable from the upper PCA. Reset power to the machine. If the Error 05 still appears, the upper PCA* is the cause and should be replaced. *Upper PCA's most commonly do not come with software. Remove the software (chip) from the existing upper PCA prior to replacement and install into the new upper PCA.
  3. Wipe away all liquid from the touch sensitive display. Reset power to the unit. If the Error 05 is eliminated, the liquid was the cause.

Why is my key stuck in the ignition?

Try rotating the steering wheel. I've had this happen from time to time in cars where the wheel is almost in the lock position, but not quite. You may have to jiggle it to remove the key.

Keyboard stuck

If you are addicted to your laptop, or are an overzealous typist, you may be dismayed when a key on your laptop becomes stuck. However, just because a key gets a little sticky, you don't have to run out to the computer repair shop. There are plenty of practical steps you can take to fix your stuck key right at home that don't require any fancy equipment, just regular household items.

1.Clean the area around the affected key. Use a damp cloth to clean the surface of the key (and surrounding keys) and then use a dry cotton swab to clean under the stuck key. Be careful not to pry the stuck key up with the cotton swab, as this could break the stuck key.

2.Press firmly on the stuck key. Sometimes after small dust or particulates are removed, the stuck key will pop back into place. However, if this is not the case, continue on with Step 3.

3.Pull out the fingernail cleaner extension of your fingernail clippers. This is the flat extension with a little hook on the end. Place the small hook under the left corner of the stuck key. A common reason that keys get stuck is that the collapsible spring becomes off-center. Gently push the key from side to side until it clicks into place. If this does not happen, you will need to disassemble the key completely.

4.Lift the top part of the key with the fingernail cleaner. You will see a collapsible plastic hinge (this is known as the Key Retainer) as well as a little rubber piece. Take both of these out. You will see a flat surface. Run the cotton swab across this surface to remove any dust.

5.Place the key components back in the keyboard. Place the rubber part on top of the metal circle you just cleaned with the cotton swab. Then place the key retainer (big side down) on top of it, and "click" it into place. It is very important to be careful with this step as these small parts break easily. Then place the stuck key on top of these parts and then give it a solid tap to click it into place. Your key should work now.

1985 corvette key stuck in ignition so cant change it out

You can remove the ignition module as a whole and Dis-Assemble it to remove the tumblers and get the key back that way. If your replacing the Ignition set anyway once you get the module removed you can install the new on and toss the old one. You can have the doors and trunk re-keyed by a locksmith to match the new key. Make sure you remove any key chain you have attached to the ignition key that is stuck and follow the removal steps for the ignition module. Should be fine.

Key stuck in my back door lock of my car

First you need to take the inside panel off of your door. Then there is a clip holding your key lock in place which you need to remove and pop out the lock. Take the outer case apart and slowly remove the broken key without damaging the tumblers.

How to get key out that is stuck in ignition

Remove steering column shroud(cover)and tap ignition barrel with small hammer while twisting key backwards and forwards, also turn steering wheel backwards and forwards sometimes this is enough to release key as the locking pins in barrel and the steering lock pin do sometimes jam.You will have to remove steering column shroud to replace ignition barrel if tapping/hitting it doesnt work anyway so its not a wasted effort.Good luck, let me know how it works out
