Question about Toshiba Satellite P105-S6197 Laptop
Hello.
•
Clean the area around the affected key. Use a damp cloth to clean the surface of the key (and surrounding keys) and then use a dry cotton swab to clean under the stuck key. Be careful not to pry the stuck key up with the cotton swab, as this could break the stuck key.
•
Pull out the fingernail cleaner extension of your fingernail clippers. This is the flat extension with a little hook on the end. Place the small hook under the left corner of the stuck key. A common reason that keys get stuck is that the collapsible spring becomes off-center. Gently push the key from side to side until it clicks into place. If this does not happen, you will need to disassemble the key completely.
•
Lift the top part of the key with the fingernail cleaner. You will see a collapsible plastic hinge (this is known as the Key Retainer) as well as a little rubber piece. Take both of these out. You will see a flat surface. Run the cotton swab across this surface to remove any dust.
•
Place the key components back in the keyboard. Place the rubber part on top of the metal circle you just cleaned with the cotton swab. Then place the key retainer (big side down) on top of it, and "click" it into place. It is very important to be careful with this step as these small parts break easily. Then place the stuck key on top of these parts and then give it a solid tap to click it into place. Your key should work now.
Hope this helps.

To get into the Windows Vista and Windows 7 Safe Mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.
Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.
Once you're in safe mode with networking Uninstall your firewall.
