Hi Margo, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC39 should only be used with genuine Dyson accessories, as these have been engineered and tested specifically for use with this model. The use of non-Dyson parts could cause damage to your machine which may not be covered under guarantee.

To find compatible tools for your DC39, please visit http://www.dyson.com and click 'Shop'.

SOURCE: HOSE ATTACHMENT WILL NOT SEPARATE FROM VAC BODY.

The hose is getting twisted on the machine and so the wand gets stuck inside it.

1) Pull the wand out as far as you can - if you can pull it out completely, separate it from the hose and apply baby powder to the
metal rod. Stretch out the hose and unwind it. In the future, separate the wand and unwind/stretch the hose after use.
2) If you can't pull the wand out all the way, remove the canister/dirt bin from the front. Look for a gray button with 7 vertical
lines/grooves on it (it'll be just above the ball on the opposite side of the bottom hook that you wind the cable around).
3) Push the button and at the same time pull the hose out from the bottom by pulling on the hook - this will release the gray hose
from the machine. Take it off of the machine if possible (the bottom of the wand may stop you from doing so - if it does, try to pull
the wand out until you can release the hose from the bottom)
4) Pull and stretch the hose out and pull the wand at the same time - separate the wand from the hose and unwind the gray hose and
stretch it out. Rub baby powder on the metal rod of the wand and in future, disconnect the wand from the hose and stretch/unwind the
hose after every time you use the wand.

SOURCE: dyson canister won't fit snugly

    Hi there,

I am sorry to hear your canister is not fitting properly. You may want to separate your cyclone assembly (the top purple portion of your canister) from the clear bin and reattach the components to ensure they are fitted together properly.

To do this, open the bottom of the clear bin, as if you were emptying it. Please be sure the bin is positioned over a trash receptacle in the event there is debris in the bin. Once the bottom of the bin is open please look at the back of your canister. Below the purple top of the canister and to the left of the debris inlet is a clear plastic loop that you can slip your index finger through. Just above this loop is a gray release catch . Using your thumb, press down on the gray release mechanism. At this point you should be able to gently pull the clear bin away from the cyclone assembly. After separating the pieces, briefly inspect them to confirm they are not damaged. If there is no obvious damage, close the base of the clear bin and place the bin on a hard flat surface. Next, carefully lower the cyclone assembly onto the clear bin. It may be helpful to use the red plastic piece on the back of your cyclone assembly and clear bin to line the pieces up correctly. You will hear a slight click once the pieces have been successfully reattached.

Please attempt to return the canister to the machine. If you are still not able to attach the canister successfully, please call us so we can provide further assistance. We can be reached at 1-866-693-9766 (US), 0800 298 0298 (UK), and 01-475-7109 (IE).

    Best wishes,

    Jessica

Brush bar doesn't spin on dyson on dc39

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC39's Trigger head floor tool is powered by a turbine, driven by your vacuum's suction. Following these simple checks should help you resolve any issues which could be preventing the brush bar from rotating as normal: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc39/dc39-animal/machine-is-not-working/trigger-head-not-working/dc39-check-the-brushbar/dc39-check-triggerhead-tool

If a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson parts and labour guarantee.

Get the brush bar to spin again on my dc39 vac

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The rotating brush bar inside DC39's Triggerhead floor tool should rotate when the vacuum is running, unless you turn it off using the button on the wand handle. If it's not rotating, our Support guide will walk you through the checks needed to resolve this: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc39/dc39-animal/machine-is-not-working/trigger-head-not-working/dc39-check-the-brushbar

In the unusual event that these checks don't resolve the issue, please contact our experts directly so we can help you further. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Why does my Dyson Dc-39 vacuum have good suction, but the beater bar barley turns?

Hi Greg, it's Jack at Dyson.

The brush bar in DC39's Triggerhead floor tool is driven by an airflow-powered turbine. If your vacuum has strong suction but the brush bar stalls on carpeting, it suggests something may be jamming the brush bar.

Follow the steps shown in our online support guide to remove the brush bar, clear any threads or hair from around the brush bar and endcap, and to check the cleaner head for other obstructions: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc39/dc39-animal/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/dc38th-removing-blockages

If you continue to have difficulty with the brush bar after completing these checks, I'm sure we can help you further. Please call our experts on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). If a replacement Triggerhead floor tool is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson parts and labour guarantee.

My dc39 has been washed by my wife but now the brushbar does not turn

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC39, but in order to help resolve this we would need to take some further details about the issue you're experiencing with the brush bar, and to talk you through some simple troubleshooting checks over the phone.

When you have your vacuum easily to hand, please give the Dyson customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

When I turn the vacuum on there is no suction and when I then go to turn it off it sounds as though it is backfiring. It is a Dc39

Hi Robyn, it's Jack at Dyson.

From what you've described, it sounds like your DC39 is blocked. This would prevent the machine from picking up as well as it should do, and will cause the relief valve to activate, making the 'backfiring' noise you've mentioned.

We'd recommend checking the floor tool, telescopic wand and hose for blockages. If you can't find any, it's likely the blockage will be in the duct hose. Our Online Support guide will walk you through how to clear this: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc39/dc39-animal/diagnosis-root-menu/performance-flo-extension-tube-suction-check-dc39

It's also a good idea to give the filter a wash, as shown in the video attached. This should be done at least once every three months in normal use. We recommend using cold water without any detergent, then allowing the filter to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like any further advice from our experts please email [email protected] and we'll be in touch as soon as possible.

    Best wishes,

    Jack
