When inside and recording, the LCD and viewfinder are black, except for large sources of light. For example, everything will be black but I can still see a window, but distorted. When outside, it's completely black no matter what. I have tried looking at the settings and nothing has helped. The camera is somewhat old but it's been in perfectly fine working condition and one day I used after a long break from using it and it's been like this ever since. It would be great if you had a solution to my problem. Thanks!
Couple of questions,
Is it Sony DCR-TRV22 camcorder? please confirm model number.
Can you see fine and clear picture in playback of old recorded tapes in camcorder?
Let me know info to proceed.
Thanks.
OK, turn on camera while lens facing you and check IRIS opens? (its like an eye opens in center of lens)
If yes, then CCD Imager is bad in camcorder and will be replaced.
I can provide you ccd imager part number if you want to replace it yourself or take camcorder to local tv repair shop for fix.
Thanks.

Yes it is a Sony DCR-TRV camcorder and I am still capable of viewing old recorded tapes just fine. It still records sound perfectly. Thanks for your time.
