I hate to say it.....heres a review "
This is the worst refrigerator I've ever purchased -- and it's all because of the icemaker. It's been repaired 7 times in the last 2 years thanks to having purchased an extended warranty. Predictably every 6 months, the icemaker stops functioning. There's a piece that jams. The repairmen are at a loss. I give up -- this weekend, I'm headed to my appliance shop and buying something different. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk...."

I think there is a genetic problem. Are you under warranty?

SOURCE: maytag ice2o won't make ice

theharrisont,  You state that...." ice maker stopped working after it flooded our kitchen floor."  The water works because the water fountain dispenser uses a separate part of the Water Valve. The ice maker portion of the water valve is defected and the entire Water Valve Assembly will have to be replaced.  Your problem is the dual Water Valve Assembly which is located on the rear bottom area of the refrigerator (follow the water inlet line from the wall to the refrigerator...the water inlet line connects to the Water Valve Assembly).  The significant info which you provided was that the ice maker flooded the kitchen which indicates the Water Valve Assembly is defected. Failure to replace the Water Valve Assembly will result in the same problem of flooding at some later date.  Replacing the dual Water Valve Assembly is just one step of several steps necessary to correct the problem.  You will also have to temporarily remove the ice maker from the freezer (usually a couple of screws hold it to the wall and a quick disconnect electrical plug) and put it in the sink and run warm water over to remove any ice.  Before you reinstall the ice maker you must check the Water Fill Tube that dumps the water into the ice maker.  Because you said that the ice maker flooded the kitchen, then the Water Fill Tube is probably filled solid with ice which must be removed.  A hair dryer is a quick way to achieve this.  Blow hot air directly into the end of the Water Fill Tube which dumps the water into the ice maker.  Note:  Use a long screw driver to insert into the Water Fill Tube to break loose any ice and continue to use the hair dryer to help to remove any ice. This should correct your problem

SOURCE: icemaker not filling with water

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.

Why has the water dispenser stopped working all of a sudden. Do the lines freeze up or is there an on off function on the control panel

Without knowing what make / model fridge it is nearly impossible to say , however, most domestic fridge have a water tank in the base of the food compartment which stores the water before going into the freezer dispenser. Have a look behind the crisper drawers for it. If the food compartment is too cold, this tank can freeze up and stop water from going into the dispenser. Is it still making ice? If so, the water valve which is normally 2 parts (1 for ice making and the other for water dispensing) may have failed.

Water dispenser does not work

most likely the water line for the dispenser has frozen in one of 2 places. the first place to check and the easiest is the water tank behind the crisper drawers in the fresh food compartment. what i would do is use a hair dryer to warm the tanke and see if it will start working again. the next place that is common for it to freeze is in the freezer door. the only way to fix this is to leave the door open for a while to allow it to thaw out.
If I'm not mistaken I think there is a recall for some of the  GE sxs refrig that addresses the water line freezing in the door. you may want to all GE and heck on that. good luck peyton

GE side by side fridge/freezer. Water stopped comming out the dispenser..

Hello.

If your frig only has a dispenser for water, the first thing you need to check, is the shut off valve, which is sometimes under the kitchen sink, and make sure nobody turned it off for some reason.
If you have a frig that dispenses both ice and water, and only the ice is working but you aren’t getting any water, then it is probably the water side of the dual water valve that has gone out. A lot of times the water side of the valve will go out before the icemaker side, because it tends to be on longer due to people filling up glasses and pitchers.
If you hear water running when you try and get water, then you probably have a leak in the water line that goes to the dispenser.
Another thing that is rare is the water will freeze in the reservoir that is behind the crisper drawers in the fresh food compartment. This sometimes happens when it isn’t used enough.

Side by side refrigerator freezing up

inside the fridge there is a cold radiator which has filled with condensation or water from freezing it when say cleaned out the fridge this can be remedied by letting set for a few days outside in the sun so that water can evaporate properly or you can call a repair man and he can pull out frost radiator inside and defrost all the water out by dry wet vac and heater dryer

ice builds apon ice even a little bit can build up to a mountain same thing happended to my top end whirlpool i pulled the metal grate and defrosted this by pouring tap water over the ice which it went down the defrost tube outside water drain this helped greatly havent had trouble with ice since

Fridge

ok pull the cover off the back wall of the freezer compartment where the evaporator fan is after look under the evaporator should see an aluminum pan with a hole there that's the drain hole for the defrost system if its frozen and that hole is stopped up then every time it defrosts the water will run in the freezer and freeze and also drip into the fridge remove the ice and clear the hole also check the drain tube in the back to make sure its clean
