Did you get this message on the all-in-one? Do you have the full-featured software installed on the computer? If not, download and install the software. Is the monitor program (HP Digital Imaging Monitor) running? Check the taskbar. If it isn't running, check if it is installed and starts on boot. Click Start > Run (if XP) and type msconfig and click OK. (type run in the search box instead and then click Run when you see it and then msconfig). In the msconfig window, click the Startup tab and look for the program. If it isn't listed, reinstall the full software completely. If it is listed, make sure the box next to it is checked and click Apply and then Close. Restart the computer and retry.

Have you set the destinations for the scan to buttons in the HP Director or HP Solution Center? Go into the software and set these.
Try to start the scan from the computer. Try a new data cable if you have additional problems with scanning. Use a direct connection if you have a USB hub or print server.
I hope this helps.

Where can I find software to download for the scanner?
Can not complete setup for scanning....system can't locate scan .msi.....I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP 2610 software. It's as if scan.msi is located in MS word or XP.....or somewhere else.
The printer state I need to install or run HP software for this feature. I have already installed and I can not find the software to re-install.
