I plug in my Armor 18 sheet cross cut desk shredder model no. IDXC180PQL/675254 and it does not turn on

The problem with be a failed transformer or motor. Most have a thermal fuse if used too long and too hard. Get out your multimeter and test them.

Unplug it and check to see if theree is any paper caught in the Start switch. Turn it Off, plug it back in and start in the Reverse mode. Then turn it Off and set the swich for On - shread.

If that doesn't work unplug it and find the start switch trip wire, Toggle it a few times with something thin - don't push too hard. You can also spray the switch the canned air used to clean keyboards. Plug it back n, start it in reverse then move it to shread.

Sounds like there's blockage between rollers and it also jams the sensor so auto function stops working. You will need to clear out as much jammed paper as you can using tweezers. Inspect the centre of the feed opening, there should be sensor which must be clear of blockages and moving freely. So clear any stuck paper with tweezers, in addition you can soak any jammed paper with WD-40 and unit should be good as new. Although if sensor arm is damaged then replacement of such sensor is unavoidable.

I don't have that model but have an 8 page cheapo shredder. It takes CDs, credit cards and staples with no whining.

Had this sort of thing happen to me also; sort of. Did you check to see if the shredded paper level alarm has been triggered in the pull-out catch area? Sometimes it forms a pile that trips the alarm before the catch is full. Sounds simple, but check it out. Also check to make sure it's plugged in! I've done that several times, even to the point of calling for help! Did you know the technical help desk always asks if the machine is plugged in first!

lots of shredders having problems like this. Easy way is to turning off the machine when you don't use it. Harder way is to disassemble it and clean everything you can. Maybe you will have to replace a sensor with new one. You have to spend some money:(

You don't use liquid oil. At the office supply stores they carry oil sheets that you insert just like shredding something. They come ion various pkgs. Staples and Office Depot stores carry them. They are universal, no model number needed. I hope this helps.
