PS2 Slim Model will not load games.

Take the game out and see if the laser is towards the back. If so, pull the eye towards the spindle or where the hole of the game goes.....and clean the laser eye with a q tip soaked in alcohol.....

This happens to me , Some games don't work on Some PS2 consoles for Example my friends Theme park world only works on a Slim PS2 and not a Proper Fat one , Wat type of PS2 do u have? and wat game r u trying to play?

Your laser is probably on its way out -- as a laser starts to fail, it will first stop reading PS2 games (but will read some DVD movies OK). It will then stop reading DVD movies and only play CDs. If a dual layer disc is not functioning, there is a problem with your laser. This is a frequent issue with Playstation 2 consoles. As a laser starts to fail, the first type of disc to stop reading is the dual layer disc. Eventually regular DVDs will start skipping in the middle of the game and loading times will increase. same problem here. keep trying to reset it, it should come around soon.

You cannot connect a usb hardrive or anything for that matter unless you "soft mod" the ps2 you need a pro action repaly and the usb stick that comes with it and you need to put certain installtion files on the stick with your computer.

Its called a spindle and you might have to replace the whole spindle motor assembly. Search online for one, there are loads of sites selling PS2 part (make sure you get the right model number or your new part might not work).

Alternately, if there are any computer/electronics fairs in your area you could try there. I needed a spindle motor for a scrap machine I was refurbing a few months ago and bought one from a computer fair for £2.

You must have a Slim model, as only slim models are aggrevating about adjusting and clenaing. If not take a Magnifying glass or Jewelers Loupe to look at the laser lens extremely close.Sometimes it takes a good bit to get it clear.
