First off I would buy a converter that allows you to plug your usb cord into it and then it plugs into an AC outlet. It will charge faster. Second, it sounds like when you PC is trying to recognize the hardware you have plugged into the usb port it isn't finding any software associated with the device and is for some reason restarting. If you received a software disc with your camcorder, try loading it on this PC and see if that fixes the problem.

Use a firewire IEEE 1394 cable kit and appropriate software too transfer to PC. Most firewire to usb cable will not work.
You will need a
1. Firewire cable
2. Firewire port on PC/Laptop as well.
3. Recent OS that supports firewire.
4. Appropriate image/video editing software.

How do I make individual events recorded on the cx230 play as a single event?

Use a video editing program on your computer. You can stitch the clips together in any order, add fades and transitions, add a soundtrack, etc.

Inaccessible memory card

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER

If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer.
Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Will a sony HDR-SR10E camcorder support a firewire IEEE 1394 cable

hi,
No, sorry but this cam doesn't have FW port...
if it is for access to your records for editing, use USB
If it is for streaming, broadcasting or recording on a PC, use the HDMI output and HDMI capture card...
that's all...
cheers,

How do I import video from my sony handy cam DCR HC32 via USB to my computer

You don't. According to Sony, your camera will not stream video via the USB port. You can only do this using the i.Link connection (what everyone but Sony calls Firewire). The list of camera models that will stream via USB, and the method to do it, is on THIS LINK Your camera is not in the list.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card. Or maybe you have a Mac. You haven't said.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My camera came with the correct lead.

There is a Sony tutorial page for downloading video to computer at THIS LINK You will need to select your operating system, then Mini-DV as the camera type, then select the type of connection. As you will see, the USB option warns that it won't work with many cameras, and you are strongly recommended to use i.Link (which everyone else calls Firewire).

Sony cyber shot w350 i can down load still photos no problem but i am unable to transfer video to a computer. i have configured the usb connection from auto to mass storage as sudjested in the manual but...

Hi

Sorry to hear of the problem with your Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W350 camera.

You don't actually say how you are trying to take the videos off the camera - is it via the included Sony software or are you trying to access the data via Windows Explorer when the USB cable is attached?

It could be a problem with the USB cable or port - possibly static build up (switch the computer off and unplug it from the mains for 30 minutes) or try another USB port or computer.

You need to try and narrow down the fault further.

Hope this helps a little
