Question about Sony GV-D900(Video Walkman), HDR-FX1, HDR-FX1000, and HDR-FX1E Battery (Premium Cells, 2200 mAh, 2-Y...

Trying to import MiniDV from Sony GV-D900 to Windows 7 PC via Windows Movie Maker. The video on the tape is clear and focused. When I import to Movie Maker, via 6 pin to 4 pin Firewire, it becomes so heavily snowy and pixelated, I can barely tell what I'm watching. New at this.

Trying to import MiniDV from Sony GV-D900 to Windows 7 PC via Windows Movie Maker. The video on the tape is clear and focused. When I import to Movie Maker, via 6 pin to 4 pin Firewire, it becomes so...

sounds like either a bad cable or the software is not set right or the format being sent is not really compatible withe Movie Maker.
Try the cable on a different device if possible.
I'd first try a different cable and if that doesn't work, try using a different software, even on a trial basis where you can get something really professional for free to get this specific thing done.

How do you capture footage on a miniDV cassette from a Sony DCR VX-2100 Digital Handycam on to a PC?

If you have Windows Movie Maker installed, this would be very easy. Just connect the Camcorder via the FireWire supplied. Go to Windows Movie Maker and select CAPTURE from device

Trying to download mini dv tape onto video

for to import from the Sony handy-cam you need a firewire cable ..not a rca..this one will only help you see the video on a tv ...but you will not be able to import them into computer ...
just ask at the store..and take the camera with you ..
another thing the camera may support even a usb cable that may be available in the box that it came with (infact the iLink cable should be there too )
so ..this is a link to a video I use to explain in detail the procedure to import fom minitape of sony handycam.
after have them into the windows movie maker..just drag them to the story board..(join them if you need) ..and save them by finishing movie...and save to computer ..in best for computer mode...after that just burn them to **** ..using Nero ..or if they are small enough to get into a cd ...use window feature for burning ..

Why i can't conect dv to pc {sony DCR_HC30E} Now tell me

Hi, Check if it has the firewire port. If so, you can get a 4 pin firewire cable and connect to the PC.
Switch on the Cam.
Open Windows Movie Maker and import video from device.

4 pin firewire would look like this:

I have just purchased a PHP F/Line HEPC8512. The Microsoft Movie maker installed does not work! Any attempt to drag and drop imported video results in "COM Surrogate has a problem" and program...

Here is a list of requirements for the Microsoft movie maker to work:
Required Equipment:
• MiniDV digital video camera
• MiniDV tapes
• Computer that supports a digital video connection
• Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2, which includes Movie Maker 2.1
• i.Link port (also known as FireWire or IEEE 1394) on your computer
The service Pack 2 is essential in this case and not to be confused with Service Pack 3.

After you meet these requirements, follow this set of instructions to work the Movie Maker 2.1
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/getstarted/movies.mspx

Let me know if you have any problems.

Sony DCR-HC38E Exporting miniDV video to computer

I had a similar problem with my Sharp camorder.
The preview window on XP simply displays corrupted images.
At the end, I bought a different firewire card and it worked for me.

Good luck.
