You don't. According to Sony, your camera will not stream video via the USB port. You can only do this using the i.Link connection (what everyone but Sony calls Firewire). The list of camera models that will stream via USB, and the method to do it, is on THIS LINK Your camera is not in the list.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card. Or maybe you have a Mac. You haven't said.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My camera came with the correct lead.

There is a Sony tutorial page for downloading video to computer at THIS LINK You will need to select your operating system, then Mini-DV as the camera type, then select the type of connection. As you will see, the USB option warns that it won't work with many cameras, and you are strongly recommended to use i.Link (which everyone else calls Firewire).

If you are using the USB cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer to transfer the videos to the Computer then:

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer.

The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video to the Computer.

Refer this link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

NOTE: You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using the i.LINK/Firewire interface.
