Original jammed in fax feeder of Brother Intellifax 2800

Original was too short(?) and can't be seen or pulled from exit as
manual suggests. I tried to feed an extra sheet below it to see if it
grabs both and spits them out, but failed. The machine does not
give an error message either...it only says to "remove original, then
press stop button".

Lift document feeder cover and look for paper. if no paper is present there are one or two switch levers that are on the bottom of feeder cover. make sure they can move freely and are not stuck.

How do I clear the check original message. There is no paper jam at this time and it still reads the same message.
Look for a switch actuator stuck down in the doc feeder. Pull up on the feeder to open.

When I send a fax from our Brother Intellifax 2800, the person receiving the fax gets the fax but half of the page is blacked out, what is the problem?
sounds like your cis (contact image sensor) which lights up and reads your original, is bad. that component is located under the keypad/control panel. if you make a copy, it should also be partially balck if that is the problem.

Turn to page 10-1 (page 93 in the pdf-file), which tells you how to turn the transmission report off.

  1. Press Menu/Set, 2, 4, 1.
  2. Press to select OFF, OFF+IMAGE, ON or ON+IMAGE, and then press Menu/Set.
  3. Press Stop/Exit.
